Agree with your point, but just wanted to clarify that Nintendo do not make a loss on the Wii. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Wii#cite_ref-wiisalesp...

Based on reviews such as Ars Technica's[1], I'd say that the Air could be used as a primary machine provided you are happy with the modest CPU and willing to upgrade the RAM from 2GB to 4GB. [1]: http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2010/1

This is excellent, I was very surprised at the result. It's made me rethink some basic assumptions. Thanks very much! :)

I tend to think in a similar way, but I also recognise that since something better is always around the corner I might never buy anything!

One of the things I really like about this book is that it covers 'method_missing' really early on. This is criticised in the comments, but I don't think it's an especially difficult concept to understand.

I completely agree. I posted quickly before realising these weren't daily averages (and even then, that wouldn't necessarily prove anything). I should have modified the link when I realised my mistake but unfortunately I was busy.

Rather than store passwords or sensitive config data in a file I'll usually try to store them in an environment variable. Heroku has a little guide on this: http://docs.heroku.com/config-vars

I've read this several times now, but I still laugh when I get to this sentence: "Lambdas are relegated to relative obscurity until Java makes them popular by not having them."
