> I'd guess that they're saying is, the point of trade, from a country's perspective, is to get imports. I'm not sure why you would think that. It is not what I said and not what i believe.

I'd guess people just haven't put much effort into it. Lots of programming language compilers have absolutely terrible error messages. In SQL its usually just one line, so "somewhere" isn't that big a place.

In retrospect, (original) Trudeau's national energy program does sound good right about now. Alas you can't change the past. However, you are overstating the level of dependence. It is significant, but certainly not total. It also

Its certainly something to worry about, but i think its far from certain. Nato countries will probably shift to france. The non-nato countries strongly in the us sphere of influence are probably the biggest wories (e.g. japan, south korea)

It is 100% how trade works. Free trade for both sides = good for both sides. Lopsided deals where one side gets the free flow of trade but the other side gets protectionism = exploitative. What is the category error here? Where is the misun

How much you like a country is a privilege of peace time. The more realistic the threat, the more appealing arms that have proven themselves on the battlefield are. I also think there is a huge difference between america's political to

I dont think this is true. I imagine the designers of the EU were fully aware that foreign govs might renege on deals and built mechanisms to deal with that. For the most part, the rules based international order is built around the idea th

As a canadian, i'm so over this drama. They will either trade with us or they won't. If they don't it will be painful - but im happy with the government reciprocating in kind (so we arent being taken andvantage of), and then

I also wonder if its rational behaviour at the end of the day. If you don't have anything to your name, why delay gratification? Its not like you'll get benefits of delaying, and you may very well suffer a loss if you wait. I thin

That is kind of the expected outcome of capitalism - the more value you provide the harder it is to replace you and the easier it is for you to leverage that for better working conditions. If you'll excuse the dehumanizing metaphor, yo

There are a lot of factors to getting wealthy. Most of them are out of your control. Hard work happens to be one that is in your control. Its not like you can choose to be born to different parents or a different place. But its still not ma

This whole situation is such a disgusting consequence of copyright law. The most frustrating part is that its so artificial. It is 100% the consequence of stupid laws.

Yeah, it seems like most of these would probably be easier for an AI to read than a human once you give even a tiny bit of training to the AI. there is a reason nobody uses text based captchas anymore.

Propaganda is not a new thing. It might look slightly different on the internet, but it doesn't look that different. Creating organizations to push a narrative was just as much a thing 100 years ago as it is now.

What does it means to be a "fake" think tank? 80% of think tanks are already propaganda vehicles. A low end think tank is basically a pretentious blog.
