Right. It also doesn't address climate change. Or gay rights, regime-change wars, or gender discrimination. It just provides every American with increased economic freedom. It's a good thing my doctor accepts USD :)

You mean the entirety of corporate America? All those tax loopholes? Agreed, I think they stink as well. Good thing Yang's Democracy Dollars idea has no strings attached unlike that sticky lobbyist cash.

Yes, his idea of Democracy Dollars is great. Wash out the lobbyist money and allow politicians to run a campaign on popularity without pandering to donors or special interests. Not sure why this idea hasn't gained more traction tbh.

Why would I choose to jump through bureaucratic and degrading welfare programs for vouchers and discounts when I can opt-in to a superior UBI program that gives me cash which I can use for anything? I'm the one who best knows how to ef

The US govt has recently dumped trillions into the banking system in a matter of days. Last I checked they were talking about additionally cutting payroll taxes for the year. Somehow they were able to do this without raising taxes by 50%...

Ya know, because we humans can't regenerate organs at the drop of a hat... or at all. So if your lung tissue starts dying, that's it. The best you can hope for is permanent scarring to replace the dead tissue. Scar tissue is a poo

Andrew Yang has been pushing for this kind of "trickle-up" economics for awhile now with his UBI platform.

I mean, part of the allure of UBI to me is that it is a social safety net except it benefits everyone. Because it's universal and not means-tested, it removes the stigma of being 'on welfare' which IMO is incredibly discour

This seems like a bad knee-jerk reaction, not a real solution. My company also has a business portal. Can I take down domains that are similar to it as well? Or is this power just reserved for MegaCorp Inc. who can afford large legal teams?

This may not be exactly what you're asking for but every re-encode introduces additional noise (generational error). Over many re-encodings (even at same high bitrate/quality) the noise will accumulate in a predictable manner. See

It seems to me that most of the authors objections stem from 100% strict adherence to git flow, which IMO is the wrong approach. I loved the concept of git flow when I first read that legendary blog post. I learned a lot and adapted it into

Completely agree with you. To be fair to the authors, they did address this in their conclusion: > This is not a reasonable expectation to place on average users.

Opt-in for the SLA and additional cluster cost would be fantastic. We run pretty small clusters but don't need any additional SLA's on top of what's already provided. Frankly we could care less about the control plane SLA.

It shows that the framework itself only uses 60MB and implies any higher usage is due to the application built on top of electron. I'm not sure why uptime matters unless you're assuming there are memory leaks?

I can definitely relate to this. No colleagues for peer review is tough. I'd recommend sticking with the managed k8s services unless you have a team. In my experience as a solo dev k8s has been a huge help and very hands-off once setup

Neither will I. Ring, Alexa & friends, "smart" devices made by mega corps, etc will never be welcome in my home. Any home automation will only be done with open-source or home-brew solutions.

You're not wrong but at around 30" is where is starts not to matter (for 1440p anyway) and I happen to sit ~36" away from my monitors. See [0]. [0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21977571

DPI is only half of the picture though (forgive the pun). Viewing distance is the other half, your eyes can't tell the difference between 100 DPI and 300 DPI if you're far enough away.

I have a 27" 4K display that I run at 1440p because 2160p is too small for me to read text easily. I'm on Linux and don't use any scaling. 1440p on a 27" at roughly 3ft viewing distance is slightly better than Retina qua

The point being made is that doubling the number of pixels is quite significant. Calling it incremental is a little short-sighted IMO.
