Agreed with the "waste" argument. I won't defend the huge power consumption but the energy spent is strictly useful in a utilitarian sense - every joule spent makes it that much harder to perform a 51% attack. Ideally, the en

Depends on if you count hard forks as new chains. Successful hard forks require decentralized consensus to follow the new chain.

I agree. I think you two are talking past each other to a degree - Bitcoin the protocol is decentralized, Bitcoin the ecosystem in 2022 is moderately centralized in various ways.

Yes, it also ignores that price is only one of many factors in the market - doesn't matter to some consumers how cheap your widget is if my widget has new tech/features not found in your widget and consumers need those features. S

I completely agree with you but I think OP is poking fun at the overzealousness of some people accusing others of being anti-vax when the covid vaccines are the only ones those people oppose. Of course there are actual antivaxxers out there

Does this apply to all usages of "Big Tech" as well? Or is that different?

Do you think the unvaccinated medical workers with natural immunity who were fired were criminally dangerous? I think denigrating nurses and doctors who have been working overtime to save lives for the last two years is pretty harsh and cal

I'd imagine we'd have studies on this by now if that were actually the case though, right? It's been almost 2 years... so it seems like there's something else going on.

That's fair, although instead of banning them I'd prefer to just have better alternatives that people naturally transition to. Cars are certainly not a very efficient mode of transport.

Don't the vaccines put evolutionary pressure on the virus to mutate in order to escape them? I'm thinking of the hospital superbugs which are resistant to antibiotics.

What I can't understand is the risk/benefit of firing thousands of unvaccinated medical staff across the US while we're in the middle of a pandemic and already experiencing hospital staff shortages. Isn't that just exace

I've never seen anyone in public with an N95 mask since the pandemic started but I've seen plenty of cloth masks, bandanas and those cheap hospital masks.

I used to work like this in PHP at my first software job circa 2013. Wrote my own deployment tooling with all the warts you'd expect. Working this way is fine for simple setups but I'm glad I've moved onto saner workflows for

Sounds like blender might not be for you. Personally I'm super happy with the new UI they revamped a year or so ago in 2.8 (which has barely changed since then). Plus there are tons of great YT videos at all skill levels for inspiratio

Same here and agree 100%. Seeing ads again will help me spend less time on the platform. I almost cancelled earlier this year but this made it easy for me to pull the trigger.

How many times can you get away with this before steam wises up? My guess is not many. They also have your CC. Makes it a pain for anyone but criminals to successfully brigade en-masse.

But if load on medical services is an issue, why are states firing health care workers by the thousands? I bought the "flatten the curve for 2 weeks" argument a year ago, not so much anymore.
