It's really not that hard to run your own servers (VPS) - it's almost always the best way to control things and they scale up way better than most people think. But if you're really scared of that, farm out the entire operati

Here is my vague attempt at ELI5: Email is sent via a protocol called SMTP. SMTP goes over port 25 between major senders (there are other ports but forget that for now). Since it uses a single port, you can't distinguish between encryp

SMTP starts in cleartext. That's the problem. You upgrade to TLS later. But only if the server says it can do that. A MITM attack can easily say that the receiver can't do TLS and thus can see everything that passes. This RFC spec

We are working to switch Haraka to use TLS by default in all systems. A big part of that is adding support for letsencrypt so that we can trivially create a secure outbound certificate for every mail. This stuff is important and we need to

It's a shame despite the title there were no tips for using libphonenumber in the article. It's a very finicky library. You have to clean your inputs a lot before using it.

My guess is the switch from zero management to a more top down approach made the top realize nothing was moving forwards. GitHub had been stagnating for a while until then. But I could easily be wrong.

I wish they could do this for hayfever. If I could just sniff some grass every day and not have itchy eyes all summer if would be great!

Another really awesome talk to watch about some aspects of this is David Braben's talk on making the original Elite in 32K of ram. I think this is the link but it doesn't work on mobile: http://www.gdcvault.com/pla

We blog a lot about that sort of thing if you're interested in it. (See my profile so this doesn't come off as a sales pitch). Building a sales team from scratch is hard and it's one of our aims to help in that goal. Good luc

The technical answer is it's complicated. SMTP is chatty. Even when you use PIPELINING. It tends to send way more packets than HTTP. And while you can open one connection and send multiple mails through it, the likelihood of your clien

Nothing I said disagrees with that. But if you are on the side of "don't hate the player" you have to feel that way about all abuses of the system. You don't get to pick and choose when you take that stance.

In this case why can't we hate the player? We apply similar hate to people who abuse the welfare system too. This is very similar.

Bitbucket is generally used for two reasons: 1: better Jira integration 2: no limit on number of projects The second reason makes it very popular among small design/dev shops.

At 18 most kids have extremely strong passion about what they want to do. I know I did. I was wrong (maths vs computer science). But persuading them to take a break from that is going to be hard.

iPad sales slowed down because once you've bought one the need to upgrade is pretty low. You don't drop them like phones so the break-factor is low. I'm still happy using an iPad 2 - it's plenty fast for web browsing and

My concern with the server side of this would be a bug in OpenSSL (which I assume this uses) could give a hacker access to the memory space of all current connections, a feature the default forking servers don't have to worry about. It

Even NAN2 is breaking some things. Or at least deprecating. It's hard to keep up, and the docs and examples suck. I tried converting a node v0.10 module to using it and flailed horribly. Edit: I don't mean to say the project sucks
