This is pretty alarming. While I knew that it's bad in the subways just from the smell alone, I didn't know it was actively harming my health to the degree that it is. This is a good heads up, thanks.

I don't think the point of the article was to normalize this schedule for 'factory workers'. To me, it's trying to say that this is an unhealthy way of life, and should not be implemented or tolerated in the workplace. T

Cool, I'm curious about the manufacturing part. Would you mind sharing that process? How did you find a manufacturer willing to build your product? Did you negotiate the price per unit? Do they require a minimum purchase amount (ie, li

I wished I spent more time with friends. Early days I wanted to learn and make the next big thing, and spent a lot of my time after work reading up on design patterns, stacks, etc. Even launched a product, but it failed. Looking back, I saw

Most everything is open source these days though, with some projects reducing support for the community tier, and pushing their proprietary tier. A more interesting question is what happens if you 'open source' everything with a f

Government have always made a show of power when it comes to groups that stand up to the status quo. While this article (or the government for that matter) hasn't told us what groups are 'extremist', or what that even means,

This is a really well-expressed comment. I actually felt it. You should write a novel, lol. Life priorities change, and it's precisely due to time commitments, as you said. I wish more people at my age understood that. Tech time is inf

How did you find manufacturers for printing the physical cards/boxes? And why did you only price it at $100, doesn't most manufacturers require a base number of printing, like 1000 boxes?

As others have said, it's a bad deal overall. There's many possibilities for the founders to screw you over: from vague milestone definitions, equity being worthless (most startups fail), adding to mental stress, etc. If you reall

We should rid of the term 'poaching'. There's no such thing. We're not animals, we are free to accept a better offer it comes along. The CEO should have counter offered with something more substantial, but he couldn'

This is an extremely unfair evaluation of software engineers. There's no such thing as a company doing ethical work, they all answer to shareholders and generate profit solely to benefit that class of people. Everyone else is the worki

Yea but what about 2-3 years down the line? You've basically set the baseline at which the recruiter will start from. Your next jump will be just maybe +5k instead of +20k since they know how much you made.

How does this scale with increased inflation or demand? I'm betting it doesn't; it just feels like another way to keep wages down if the company refuses to update their pay 'algorithm' against the current labor market.

Absolutely terrible. Corporate abuse doesn't just stop at lower-tiered jobs, it affects all levels of industry, including knowledge workers, like the article explains. I had no idea that workers at MS had unionized, only to be stomped

I don't think it's fear, ego, or whatever other answers here have suggested. It's pure profit motivated. If employees knew things were going to hell, would they keep working or start looking for new jobs? The latter case has

I have a hard time believing that workload is reduced. In theory it makes sense, but companies are not charities, and unless the government makes it the rule that workload gets reduced, I think it's just gonna be a direct paycut.
