All 3 companies produce actual real life things also, so it’s harder to lay off sections which aren’t as profitable as others when share prices fall.

Much like solar panels on the roof (which I have also heard Americans describe as an eyesore), once they are common enough your eyes just slide over them and you don’t notice.

There are issues with the modern windows user interface but I’m not sure it’s these. For one “start” was never actually how most people started using the computer - it is through desktop shortcuts, so the label didn’t really make sense. The

Telstra also installs large digital billboards on the back of many pay phones which is why there are still so many in urban areas.

I think they mean “get paid out” for unused sick leave at the end of employment rather than getting paid for sick leave at all. In Australia your sick leave accumulates but you don’t get paid out when you leave, while your accumulated annua

This seems weird. Do they not watch tv or play video games? I try to play board games over either of those where I can because I am spending time with my friends.

Yes. If they designed something they knew was unsafe, or they were negligent in their design, or they misrepresented their competency I would expect them to be accountable for their actions as a professional electrical engineer.

The core thing that I think differentiates software engineering and programming is accountability for the quality and ethics of what you design. If an engineer designs and signs off on something, they are legally accountable for if it. Ther

The modest reduction in quality from leftovers is easily made up for in the time and money savings; at least for me.

Showing up definitely helps but in my experience the transition from acquaintance to friend comes through a bonding moment where there was an emotional connection - either struggling through or achieving something together or vulnerability

Every golden and red delicious apple I’ve ever had I would describe as “mealy” though. In Australia we don’t get many of these varieties but Pink Lady is my favourite so I’m tentatively happy to back this list in.

Funnily enough you actually can with airline points and there are websites dedicated to this economy of getting points then selling or transferring them to another airline where they are more valuable or useful (Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlye

I mean the person who took the photo still has it and you can still ask for it if you like it? If anything stories make you likely to see more photos of your friends, not less.

Something Instagram’s algorithm doesn’t get that Tik tok’s does is that just because I watch something doesn’t always mean I want more of it. Because I am pathetic, I may watch a few loops of a thirst trap short, but I do not want more of i

I think you don’t quite have the right mindset for the purpose of stories. The point is “this is not important enough to interrupt my friends; but here’s what I’m up to if you’re interested”. It doesn’t matter that it expires, because it’s

Than the iPhone 14 (non-Pro)? It has a brighter screen which runs at 120Hz (not 60) and it has the additional telephoto lens (and LiDAR, though I don't think there's any use for that still). I also think it looks nicer, but that

Telegram is orders of magnitude smaller than any of the those listed above, except maybe a Viber (I’m not sure; it seems to have some use in SEA countries).

It’s because it falls back to MMS with android users in the group which does have a weird duplication issue. Best bet is to use another platform for group chats (Signal is excellent but WhatsApp may be a path of less resistance)

When you can get an iPhone 13 Pro for almost the same price but it is objectively better (or alternatively get an iPhone 13 on clearance, which is almost the same device) it isn’t hard to see why the regular 14 isn’t selling amongst people

I don’t really know why people think this. Wireless is a mostly bad way to charge phones with a couple of good applications (phone mounts in cars, and bedside docks). They’re less energy efficient, they’re bad for the battery, they’re slow

There is some critical mass fortunately. The driver for most people in my group to get it was that they’d miss out on a group chat if they didn’t have it. I now have everyone I talk to regularly on Signal (30-40 people), but it took years.
