I used to build guitar amps for fun and repair them for friends. I have parts of a Sound City, Plush, Harmony, Gibson amps in my storage unit. I have some old heathkit thing from the 60s. I have two different Traynors. Depending on your bud

I remember faces but not names. I’m sort of the opposite; I won’t engage because I know I have forgotten the name. This is mostly because names are arbitrary and usually common “Hi Matt!”

I got by okay without french in Lyon. I thought about (and think about) moving there. The Netherlands is probably the best bet in mainland europe, you could try Leiden/The Hague if Amsterdam is a bit on the pricy side.

I’ve been to Cape Town and I really enjoyed it. It’s got some shorty aspects, but it’s not a huge shock if you are coming from SF. Stellenbosch was also nice. Weather was unbeatable. Food was amazing.

We do this heavily in astronomy: http://ivoa.net/documents/TAP Although it's a bit crusty, it is heavily used. We store additional metadata about columns and we annotate the results we return. You can build someth

I wish we could get encrypted credentials a lá travis in a Jenkinsfile. I’ve found most configuration for a job can be in a git repo but you have to manage some things through the web interface, and it’s not that easy securely managing cred

You can see Shanghai from it the location (on a clear day). I don’t think they operate it much because of the noise issue. Apparently they also even more rarely point it.

This isn’t the only stupid telescope. Just outside Shanghai city limits is the Tian Ma radio telescope. It’s 65m. I went there, I don’t think it’s used at all, and it was completed in 2012

I think the point is it's not possible to even build a high growth index fund anymore - at least not one based on US companies. Existing funds skew towards emerging markets, and would never include a Facebook 2008-2012 or a Dropbox 201

This is the correct answer - but that still implies a question on citizenship, though maybe it's implicit that if you have a SSN and a Drivers License then most banks assume you are a US citizen.

A jar needs deps. A fat jar still often needs a script to run it with baked-in parameters, JAVA_HOME/PATH manipulation, maybe a tanuki service wrapper, a cron job to keep it running, some what to bootstrap it from scratch (maven) - eve

I really love the Onion, but I think I have laughed much more at The Hard Times these past two years. I’m not sure what that means, but I hope some of the Onion guys maybe make it over there.

I’m sorry but this is completely apples and oranges. UV is not, in fact, “high energy” in any physics sense of the word. I’m not sure what the transmission of UV to a solar panel is but I’m sure it’s not 0%, and with all of this, workers ca
