I'm not sure how I missed that npm was acquired by GitHub, but man, a lot of stuff suddenly makes a lot of sense. I really can't think of a worse home for such a critical part of the Node ecosystem.

It doesn't even have to be circular. One company is juicing another company's valuation to make their stake worth more. Down the road they'll sell their stake, end the deal, and leave everyone else holding the bag. Nothing ab

If your service shares state globally across all users (like a social network) not really. If individual customers are mostly centered around one geographic location and their data isn't shared with other customers, yes.

But it does mean you gracefully degrade so the majority of the company sees the target latency <100ms and the rest of the company sees "not geo-optimized" latency.

This is super cool, but man... writing something as complex as a browser from scratch in 2026 in a memory unsafe language feels like setting yourself up for so much trouble. I love the explosion of small from-scratch browsers that are poppi

I looked for this in the article and I couldn't find any mention of it. I suspect no. And I suspect that's why it's not mentioned in the article: they think people won't notice.

Junior hiring was clearly depressed thanks to COVID, but AI has absolutely made that depression worse. We know this because it's what the tech leaders keep saying. They can't fucking shut up about it. It's as though the only

Especially in an era where RAM is so expensive, the obvious answer is to simply never use memory. If your data can't fit in the plethora of CPU registers at your disposal, your software is probably too complicated. /s

Microsoft mistreated a security researcher, the researcher publicly dumped a horde of Microsoft zero days, Microsoft was decidedly miffed, the researcher says they'll "shatter Microsoft's bones" on July 14.

Your argument comes down to the meaning of "voxel", then. Voxels have volume, and they are represented with polygon faces. If you think that applies here, I guess more power to you.

It's kind of weird to call them "columns of voxels" when the columns can't have gaps and the "voxels" below the topmost are ignored completely. Which is to say, they're just columns...which is (definitiona
