Windows default products have also been improving in quality, like the mail and calender client. The calendar one is quite good actually. Typescript is also a pleasurable experience (as a new web dev, great timing!) vscode is nice to use to

Blender is good for character animation, but it's learning curve is higher and there aren't as many QoL improvements as in other 3d software. 2.8 is a step in the right direction but I still find cinema4d to be much much much fast

Gimp/inkscape are not drop in replacements for ps/illustrator. Unless your use case is very basic.

On a 60% and no idea where scroll lock lives (time to check the manual). But I've come to really prefer ctrl in place of capslock. I'm also somewhat of a madlad as I remap every game I play from wasd to esdf. This allows my pinky

Was an avid user of kpxc for a year. The auto type feature did not feel secure compared to other pwm's. It requires the username input field to be focused, and if the wrong field is focused (click didn't take?) or otherwise change

Took a piano 1 class at a nearby college last fall, and I agree with all of your points. I did walk away with a firm grasp on major and minor chords, which is something that escaped me in the 20+ years I'd played music.

Yes. This is exactly the case with music, too. Once the song's basis is created, everything that comes after has to 'fit in'. It's much harder to do sound design without that blank canvas effect.
