I've seen repos completely borked because the gui kept a merging and pushing in the background. This was after spending a lot of time removing binaries from a repo and not being able to figure out how the same binaries kept ending up

There is a third group of people to which I belong: Don't use car for normal work life but use it for weekend adventures. I'm a bike commuter during the week but on weekends I drive more than 100 miles one way. Doing this with Ub

Averages are a bad way to look at the overall risk. An example: Every time the auto pilot encounters a truck turning in front results in a fatality. 1 in 10 times a drunk driver fails to avoid the truck turning in time. The average

They do actually, remember the titanium protective plate retrofit a year or so back on the Model S? There have also been various drive train issues and such. IIRC think the Model X had a problem with the headrest already that resulted in f

I actually worked out the math on this--Tesla is lying with statistics when they made this comment they did about 1 in 130 million miles. Here's what I did: 1 in 90 million rate: 1.1 x 10^8 Probability of No accident in one mile:

Can confirm. Been trading options for 3 years, lose money on 90% of my trades, but still up 30% for the year. It's basic expected value, magnify your wins and minimize your loss to what you know you can lose.

Mostly true. For me I go a lot of places that are a 2 hour plane ride followed by a 2 hour car ride. In those cases it's faster to just fly directly where I want to go, and avoid the car portion. Most places have smaller airports a

The original writings on free speech very much included non government censorship. Where did everyone get that? It wasn't by reading On Liberty .

Mill says you're wrong: Society can and does execute its own mandates: and if it issues wrong mandates instead of right, or any mandates at all in things with which it ought not to meddle, it practices a social tyranny more formidable

I've made some huge mistakes, but I'm up 20% overall YTD. Just randomly picking tech stocks with out of the money puts has been profitable enough to stay up 20% even if the majority of them wash out. Biggest hit was 8x.
