Isn't it because it was tied to Windows? My impression still is that the ecosystem is not as well supported outside of Windows. Similar problem with Swift even though it started out as an open source project. The ties to Apple OSes are

It is helpful to think of it in terms of unit economics. If a company sells a product, it needs to eventually make profit on each unit. (cost < price per unit) When it comes to owning a share, it eventually needs to make the investor mon

Hackers hack on all levels of abstraction. Defining "hacker" around the level of programming languages seems silly. Hardware hackers could have said the same thing about the author.

I agree with your sentiment that the Fed isn't "out to increase unemployment" but I think it's not entirely correct to ignore the trade off of raising rates. It's the low employment that allows the Fed to keep incre

Well, if it's profitable, someone will want to claim it. If it's not, then it will get shutdown due to some unpaid bills. (Compute, electricity, connectivity, etc.) Maybe possible if it's running as a truly decentralized algo

Hmm, one way I can see is that ChatGPT becomes a bit like the AppStore/Spotify/Netflix. Users pay for ChatGPT -> OpenAI pays plugin developers for usage. This incentivizes plugin developers to provide quality answers. Websites

Withdrawal of $42B in one day. Wow. It does seem like SVB would be uniquely vulnerable to this type of run. (Relatively small # of customers holding large sums of deposit.) Is that incorrect?

Yes, that is true, but it is still part of their mandate. Supply and demand of money gets reflected in inflation and the Fed responds by changing interest rates. Isn't this a free market mechanism?

Well, being subject to S&D of money is why they have the mandate to keep inflation at 2%, no? You can argue that measuring inflation is a poor way, but you'd have to come up with a better alternative.

The bit about Apple Notarization is incorrect. You can do it with a free Apple Developer account. You only need to pay $99 if you want to distribute it through the App Store.

One reason I'm aware of is for foreign customers who are buying in foreign currencies. As a developer, I don't want to set prices in every currency, so they translate the price grid for me which I found useful.

I generally agree with your statement, but it depends on what your goal is. Ultimately, do you want to build a successful business or bring a (specific) new technology into the world? I suspect the former is true more often and it can lead
