It's always hard to read such light grey text, I misread it as "giving them our private keys".

Which is why certificate signing requests contain only the public key.

Bit disappointing that it mentions a script that produces a bridge, then never names it or links it.

The owner of HutHos does appear to be female, so that may be related?

It's really only relevant when specifying multiple targets, like 'make clean all', or the more common 'make all install'. It just seemed odd to me.

Then I'd like to bring to your attention that you can have the @ come from a variable too, which means you can have conditionally silent files too. That always seemed to me like the perfect middle ground between silent compiles and kno

I realise their standard probably doesn't include all, but it seems like the obvious choice. Maybe I've just been conditioned by autotools, but I think it's standard practice to have all be your default target.

It's interesting how they list targets that have "practically become a convention", yet they're missing "all". I'm also intrigued by their claim they used @ in the recipes, yet they never did.

"a large portion of the uploaded code is copyrighted by the University of Illinois." seems to suggest the homework involved working on an existing codebase.

I think the intent here is to decrypt and then reverse engineer the network traffic, so they can then check for vulnerabilities server-side. So they aren't auditing the application, they're just trying to find a way in.

It basically just stores [3, 0, 3, 2, ...] as 2-bit numbers, and the shift then corresponds to indexing.

Apparently that port is used for the "plan 9 file service", so it's probably some kind of ftp-like client for 9p.

The type of both the car and cdr is the generic 'a, but that's the same 'a, so the elements of a list are only of one type.

I switched to using a compose key instead of dead keys, because I just end up writing much more code (and english) anyway, so it's more efficient than actually having dead keys in the end.

I think the idea is that you choose a unique door id for every website, something you can easily remember. It's also a deterministic (but difficult to reverse, I assume) algorithm, so it doesn't ever store anything, you just regen

>(foo) turns into a file name, so it can be passed to things that absolutely want a file name to write to. And multiple occurrences of this should work as you'd expect.

If I remember correctly one of them requires you to specify the port with -p separately, and the other gets it from -l. So it's nc -l 1234 on one, and nc -l -p 1234 on the other.

You can turn everything uncomfortable, or nothing at all, it's up to the one using the name, not the name itself.

As biased as I am (very), I'm not sure how this applies, none of the library names I know suggest anything sexist, or otherwise offensive. Now, as for whether naming libraries after sex acts, and possibly body parts, is a good idea, well, d

Personally I also think of it like this: If someone can make money out of what I provide for free, they're providing some service. They either have better hosting, promoting, features, bugfixes, etc, etc, if you treat this service, however

I can't help but wonder why you'd name your wifi something negative. I mean, I can get into showing your support, but I wouldn't even think of someone I hated while naming my network.
