I mean I really don’t like it either, but I have to say, it screenshots 10x worse than it really looks. There’s enough ‘glow’ that things look largely distinct. I would still prefer 5x the blur; I really, really, really hate the shapes of t

I find the search pretty poor on Apple Maps, but I’ve traveled the world using only Apple Maps and I’ve gotten around fine in quite remote areas. The only reason I ever use google maps is to search somewhere and copy paste the address into

Personally, I’ve never found this lean methodology to work for me. I have a bit of a mantra that I’ve found works really well for me: “Put everything on the screen”. Every feature every variant ever possible configuration and all future pot

And for what it’s worth, having read thousands of AI generated applications, I can guarantee you it didn’t ace it ;-) Maybe it didn’t out itself, but you could also make the argument that that’s failing in an of itself

This blog post makes me actively want to use something besides fly. Putting aside the massive condescension in the article… … most of the code you write is tedious boilerplate? What do you do all day? I can honestly say the most tedious cod

Phrasing.app | CTO | EU Remote I've spent the last 18 months iterating on Phrasing, a language learning app for polyglots. It's finally reached a stable point, and we're starting to get Daily Active Users. I've been usin

Oh I’m not arguing for minimalism or all text uis - I agree with the article in the sense that modern uis are boring and we need something fresh. It just seems like a very shoddy example to run a victory lap with. Design is subjective, but

I find it very interesting the praise Material Design Expressive gets. Perhaps it's just because I've always been on iOS, but every iteration of Material Design seems so much more foreign to me. I'm not really criticizing it,

Surprised there aren't more comments about the game example. I found it so bad - takes up so much space, provides no value, color schemes all over the place, every "icon" had wildly different rotations/perspectives. Was

If you don’t mention an item, it is skipped (no grade). If you can’t remember an item, but you recall learning it, you describe it and it will be marked as fail. At the end there is a screen with all the words and you can change any from sk

I implemented free recall into FSRS pretty easily. Granted, it’s only for language learning, and I have it set up to work in a free recall friendly way (you don’t learn cards, you learn actual words and morphemes) but it’s been working for

I would say the implementations are time optimized, over the others. I’m building a language learning application, and have put in a lot of effort to make sure that the Spaced Repeition is motivation-optimized. It’s centered around your per

I am the first to admit that the UI does not make sense to people who have not seen it in use. I have done some user onboarding sessions where you just “let them ask questions and click” and it goes terribly if it’s any consolation, I have
