Yeah I use Mistral Large for a lot of formatting work. For this one use case of mine, it outperforms frontier models by a significant margin. I've found tons of use cases for mistral small as well. I'd love to use Mistral for more

I’ve been writing ClojureScript now for around a decade. I tried to get into Clojure many times, but as someone with no Java experience, the JVM really makes it unbearable. I ended up trying Elixir though and absolutely loved it. Both Cloju

Personally I’m not a fan of the glass effect, but yeah what bothers me more are all the changes around it. The terrible jelly nav bars, the text distortion, the massive buttons with overly rounded corners, the awful switches and sliders, no

My non techie friends all hate it. I don’t think there is a single Apple user I talk to regularly that hasn’t complained about it, or ask me why it is that way (being the resident tech person for some). And besides a few odd posts on x, I h

This is not contending with the health aspects of it though. It is highly processed and it uses a bunch of toxic chemicals to make it, regardless of what any lobbying groups say.

What is this about “the agrolobby”? I haven’t eaten processed foods in decades. I started when I was a kid because I didn’t like eating things where I didn’t know all the ingredients. Not from marketing or lobbying or trends. I just stopped

There are a lot of people who _thrive_ off of a 100% beef diet, I don’t think there is anyone who could _survive_ off of 100% beyond meat burgers. I don’t think you can say they are way healthier than beef by any stretch of the imagination.

Thank you. Bean burgers are delicious. I don’t eat them as part of my normal diet, but have no qualms with them and could always share a meal with my vegan friends. Nowadays it’s all fake meat products which I would never put in my body, an

I haven’t been eating processed foods for several decades now. Just because it’s trendy at the moment doesn’t make it wrong, nor does it make those who abstrain game players. I would say veganism is more trendy at the moment. That doesnt di

I wrapped my headband in some macrame yarn and it resolved all of the discomfort. I can’t say it’s exactly stylish, but I do get a lot of comments on it. I only really wear them at home or when traveling though, so they’re not a fashion acc

This is such a weird comment. It’s ultra processed food devoid of micronutrients with low quality protein and poor bioavailability. Health conscious folks would definitely not choose this. In fact, it’s all the things you try to avoid as so

While I’d love there to be a European frontier model, I do very much enjoy mistral. For the price and speed it outperforms any other model for my use cases (language learning related formatting, non-code non-research).

Privacy is definitely not a cern for the layman, but it is for lots of people, especially pro users. I also haven’t made a google search in years. I also haven’t seen any improvements in the frontier models in years, and I’m anxiously await

Similar use case as well. I use erl ports to spawn a python process as well. Error handling is a mess, but using python as a short scripting language and elixir for all the database/application/architecture has been very ideal

Two counters: 1. I'm not sure China caught up so quickly due to any lack of nationalism. 2. There's an allure to working with an EU business because it's in the EU because they're less likely to jerk you around. You have

I wasn’t claiming fluency in these languages, just making a point that comprehension is normally very over-exaggerated, and that “full comprehension” is a long way off from just average “comprehension”, and in most cases not needed to conve

I’ve got some plans around that :) currently there’s a really naive implementation of what I call “Language islands”. They’re collections of expressions/sentences. The idea here is to be able to share them, discuss them, correct them,

I would say "full comprehension" would mean you don't need words and phrases explained to you on a daily basis. And to each their own. Fluency is a bad metric because it means something different to everyone. If you live in a

Not really. Fluency is probably closer to 70-95% comprehension, combined with an ability to assume the rest. I assume the comment is talking about native level comprehension, which is still only like 99.99% Source: native English speaker in

Not OP, but I also coincidentally built a language learning app to learn Turkish. I don't think you can create courses without experience in the language, but it is possible to build analytical tools to make language learning possible.
