I think the biggest difference is the scalability built-in. It has a beautiful Web admin and CLI admin that ease the scailability works including sharding and adding a node to the cluster. PostgreSQL also has built-in streaming replication,

"Your job is to solve problems" - This statement may be useful as a reminder, but most of the case - it is too obvious to gain something from it. What on earth are the jobs without solving problems? Of course understanding the pro

Yeah, that's what I wanted to say by the "tolerable" part. I know arrays, as well as other plain objects in JS, are capable of having arbitrary properties. But hey, how many libraries or code rely on that specific behavior of

I think allowing the negative array index, like "items[-1]", would greatly improve the indexing problem. IIRC, JS strings also don't support negative indexes. Is this intended? I think the backward incompatibility that would

I lol'd on an attempt to find the executables to overwrite. It does make sense, though the applicable files are already gone.

Determining the type of an argument by looking up the presence of ':', '=', or '==' is brilliant. I liked it. It can also be used to replace Wget, which not only breaks a multibyte filename sometimes, but also

God, I've not known of the oninput event. I've always used onkeyup, or onchange instead. And their behaviors were so tricky. These "vanilla JS" features sometimes surprise me. Shame on me.

Oh, I had thought the link was about Postgres-XC. So it's a different project. "The project includes architects and developers who previously worked on both Postgres-XC and Stado, and Postgres-XL contains code from Postgres-XC.

Presenting services in user space has always been a benefit of microkernels, which is welcomed considering that I frequently make use of FUSE or OpenVPN. The only concern for me is performance. Though I believe the service server provided b

So true. I'm occasionally confused on which spelling to use. My rule of thumb is using "referrer" for almost all place including variable names, except for the situation when I have to manipulate the headers directly.

Very intriguing, thanks for the excellent slides. Is it possible to know the thread ID efficiently on Linux or other *NIX systems, using a similar fashion presented for Windows in the slides? I have no idea on how much calling pthread_self(

The MDN wiki states that the <plaintext> tag, along with the similar <xmp> and <listing> tags, has been deprecated since the ancient times of HTML 3.2. It also says the support for those tags can disappear suddenly in this

By looking the code, the script injects <plaintext> tag while being loaded. So, all the HTML followed by the script element will lose their meanings, just to be rendered as a plain text. Due to the approach, I guess the start and end
