It’s orders of magnitude slower than Helix, which is also a full blown editor. When all your other tools are fast and well engineered, slow and bloated is very noticeable.

It’s almost all the model. There are many such tools and Claude Code doesn’t seem to be in any way unique. I prefer OpenCode, so far.

Some people[0] like their tools to be well engineered. This is not unique to software. [0] Perhaps everyone who actually takes pride in their craft and doesn’t prioritise shitty hustle culture and making money over everything else.

I’ve had good success with Claude building snappy TUIs in Rust with Ratatui. It’s not obvious to me that there’d be any benefit of using TypeScript and React instead, especially none that makes up for the huge downsides compared to Rust in

Yes, they should regulate any product or service offered by profit making companies to consumers, regardless of whether they are provided “free” of charge or not.

Background playback is a feature of the browser and operating system, not YouTube. Consumer laws should prevent Google doing this. We need an anti-DMCA to make circumvention, bypassing, or disabling of user’s device or OS features illegal.

Not OP but my GrapheneOS phone is fine with me installing things on it. It just seems like a better Android at this point.

I’m currently experimenting (alongside working as usual) with a reasonably non-trivial rust project that will be designed “project managed”[0], built, and tested by LLM agents (mostly Claude, via OpenCode) based on me providing high level r

Depends on the project and team There are plenty of situation in which all that matters is that the people actually building are happy with it and a tool that literally nobody else uses would be fine. Indeed, for many engineering jobs (soft

I think this kind of thing just bothers some people and not others. I first started to understand and notice update rates and responsiveness as a gamer playing 1st person shooters. I hate (ok, I find it a bit jarring) the jerky scrolling of

It’s much easier to have to remember fewer rules and for things to be ok if you get some wrong, yes. Especially for casual users of HTML.

Because HTML is designed to be written by everyone, not just “engineers” and we’d rather be able to read what they have to say even if they get it wrong.

GrapheneOS is not quite "without" Android but it's without what makes it bad (Google) and works fine for me. I hear LineageOS is ok too.

Tailwind being funded is evidence to me that there’s still far too much money in making software compared to the rest of society, not too little as the author would like us to think.

There's a difference between many people preferring not to have control over the device they own and it being illegal to have such control. Yes, absolutely, most people would be better off not having that control and most of those peop

The ideal endgame is that AI lets us build tools that make it impossible to tell what application or device is using their APIs and everything becomes open to third party clients whether they like it or not.

I’ve had zero problems getting Claude to generate CSS. I generally ask for the following, from scratch for each project: - A theme file full of variables (if you squint this actually looks a bit like Tailwind) - A file containing global sty

It's mostly about the UI. Browsing a network share is pretty ugly (generic icons, filenames, etc.) and can be unintuitive. Basic things like quickly finding the latest file you've added can be quite difficult. Ultimately if you ju

I’m quite surprised that Berlin is a place where it’s seen as odd to go to a café alone. I’ve certainly done it there plenty of times, but it would never have even occurred to me that it may be unusual.

It’s absolutely not the case that people are good enough in general at optimising their time and lives that the things they spend the most time on are the “best” they could have done. Most people will readily admit to this, especially when
