I've run Diablo 2 just fine using Wine on various machines - the only issue being the inability to play fullscreen. I feel like I had issues with the original Diablo, however. Maybe that's what you meant?

Is there a portable version of Kiwix? Would be cool if you could plug the USB into any computer and start reading Wikipedia without having to install anything.

I wanted to ask for a link, then I thought the server on the local ISP might not have the resources to withstand HN traffic, then I thought such a small efficient website wouldn't require many resources!

I feel similarly, although I always felt the gameplay system itself was flawed, rather than blaming my own ineptitude. It felt like quite often I'd be stuck trying every combo of items with elements in the environment until some arcane

Paying for something does not necessarily mean you won't be tracked, or even not be shown ads ( Windows, anybody?). The better solution for that is to use open-source software.

I don't use either - I used Keepass and sync the key file amongst my devices. It doesn't have a lot of the features that other password managers have, but it's simple, open-source and works well enough for me.

One thing I always found confusing in corpspeak is the use of the phrase "speak to [something]" instead of "speak about [something]". It seems confusing and doesn't appear to have any benefit other than possibly som

It blew me away how much attachment I had for what essentially amounted to a letter on a screen controlled by algorithms. I wrote a blog post about it 10 years ago: https://marzzbar.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/aw

How common is seretonin syndrome amongst people who take SSRIs? My understanding of seretonin syndrome is that it's a serious life-threatening condition that can occasionally occur when people take too much MDMA.

For good in-depth investigative journalist approach to the topic, I highly recommend the book "Lost Connections" by Johaan Hari. The author himself was diagnosed with depression and prescribed SSRIs for the longest time. Through t

Awesome site. For those looking for a summary: In the early days of the web, pages were made primarily by hobbyists, academics, and computer savvy people about subjects they were personally interested in. Later on, the web became saturated

I feel like I've read about several big companies using monorepos, but I've never understood why. It feels like the source-control equivalent of writing your code in one big file. Does anyone have any good resources for why and ho

I always found it interesting that payphones could receive calls in America. Australian payphones can't receive calls (at least, not to my knowledge), and it always seemed like it would be ripe for abuse if they could.
