Don't worry, it's very smart! You (and the rest of the internet) can program it to do or say what you want! You're in safe hands™

Absolutely right. Kinda sad that this format is frowned upon now. I like data-rich articles without SEO fluff.

When the EU was formed, its members' economies were comparable. The lev was pegged to the euro in 1999, Bulgaria was roughly 80% poorer than the EU leaders (I'm using PPP figures from ChatGPT to make these comparisons, I don'

I don’t think those two are comparable economies to Bulgaria 20 years ago.

Easy to disagree on this one. MacBooks are easily the best-manufactured computers money can buy. The entry level MacBook is just unbeatable for value, which is very unusual for Apple.

Sounds about right? Today's Germans shouldn't feel guilty about the atrocities their great grandparents did. If they should, maybe look into your own heritage a bit. Guilt has nothing to do with denying the past.

Repo secrets are just stored on someone's computer and they obviously have the keys. This is what I mean. Same for your vault. The vault might be encrypted, but at some point you have to give the keys to the vault. Your secrets are not

pre-commits require discipline: - enforce them on CI too; not useful for secrets but at least you're eventually alerted - do not run tasks that take more than a second; I do not want my commit commands to not be instant. - do not preve

I was thinking about this the other day. It's great that people are able to build their own apps, but at some point you're going to hit something you can't resolve and you will need someone. The more vibe-coded apps, the grea

I don’t like React but I disagree with this sentiment. First of all you can already opt out of declarative DOM and knock yourself out with innerHTML and ref. Second, what can you do with imperative control of the DOM that is less practical

It really depends on what you're doing. Many graduates I worked with and people from academia always wrote code so convoluted and abstracted it was impossible to follow. In the end it had the same bugs and their code was replaced with

No, a lot of people go to college or "bootcamps" before entering the field. Given the amount of computer science graduates, I'd say we're not all self-taught.

I don't see how this is relevant at all and not just a rant about something you don't like. People are asked to buy and send crypto, they're not the same people who know what crypto is.

I think not. Edit is to edit files in the terminal. What kind of files do you expect people to edit in the terminal? Most certainly files that would benefit from colors, not prose.

It's incredible to me that sudo has that many LoC. I'd assume it would just ask the OS to execute something without restrictions, not have any logic to do so itself.

I tried it and it literally could not last one launch on my phone. The only action that can save me from Instagram is uninstalling the app. I have the web app installed but it's too slow to feed my addiction, so I rarely open it.

Oof, I wonder if this is the reason why I constantly have issues with my M1 Mac connecting to cafe hotspots. Regularly I find places that let me connect and then kick me off less than a minute later.
