In Brazil we'll say things like "The party is at 8 da noite ", where "da noite" means "at night". When context is obvious, we often ommit that, so I might say "We will have lunch at 1 one clock"

The 12h and 24h system is essentially the same thing, no? In my country we use a 24h system in writing, but mainly a 12h system in speech.

iPhones are durable and are supported for longer times. Some people prefer spending more upfront for a product that will last longer. iOS is not a bad OS, and some might say that is more idiot proof than Android.

It is regretable that a lot people takes these kinds of "questions manuals" as an incentive or an excuse to feel justified for being a total asshole.

I don't think a lot of people expect small businesses to make up for a largely unequal and unfair economic system. That should be the an atribution of government and society as a whole.

I love Linux but I'm convinced we need an actual for-profit alternative in that space that is not coupled with Apple hardware.

Used bookstores are great for discovery, you often end up with something random and unexpected that you would never buy on a digital storefront.

So I oppened this in the Amazon Brazil. The Kindle book is R$569,00. That is more than a brand new Kindle Paperwhite, and more than twice the Brazilian minimum wage. I won't provide the link, but it took me 5 seconds to find this for f

It's useful if you keep it to yourself and use it to redirect your own reasoning. If you say out loud that it's actually a fallacy, not only you won't convince anyone you'll immediately look like a dick. Guaranteed.

Pointing out fallacies in conversation, both online or IRL, is, and always will be, pointless. That is not because people don't care about being logical. Dropping fallacies is just lazy and makes you sound like a dick. It's lazy b

I think you're conflating very dissimilar things. Blade Runner and Star Wars are both incredibly influential, but artistic quality and influence are two very different things. The word "masterpiece" is related to artistic qua

Blade Runner is one of those movies that are remembered more for introducing interesting questions and world-building than presenting a truly engaging and highly efficient narrative. Like Star Wars and Robocop , it is not flawless and

Manual is fun to operate hen the roads are clear, well designed and maintained. If you're in heavy traffic in crazy third world roads like I usually am, not so much.

I do agree, but the third world is on a 20 year time delay. So it'll take a while for everything that you're saying to become true where I am.

You know, I did that. Firefox is great, but it's using 600mb of RAM on my meager 2012 MacBook Air. I'm regretably looking for alternatives. Probably Safari if I manage to get adblock. I think it's better on Linux.

4K is not the issue. The issue is that they achieved a standard style of filming that is entirely unremarkable, and the only thing they have going for them is the fact that the image is crystal clear. Competently shot 4K has a certain aura

Sure that helps. But on Emacs everything is a chord, some quite awkward, and sometimes you have two or three chords in sequence. I don't like bending my fingers, so I use Doom Emacs for Evil.
