I still use mh (well, nmh now) programs for my personal email. There is nothing that beats mh's "pick" program for selecting emails.

string `which ls`|grep src shows cvs strings. FreeBSD switched over to svn a long time ago and cvs id strings are not updated anymore. But svn log ls.c on the head branch shows the last change was on 20-July-2015. In any case, why keep fidd

I'll give you a practical example: Since the RaspberryPi doesn't have a real time clock, I bought a GPS module from adafruit, hooked it up to the Pi's serial line, and ran this two line script to start using it. aux/gpsf

I thought a "turf" was a protection domain? Has that changed? I thought one can have a turf without a thread running in it.

This seemed like a fun little project so I created https://github.com/bakul/avg.git -- a Go package that converts an "ascii vector graphic" string vector into a shape vector.

I partially disagree. Qemu, & in general simulators, can really speed up development but for the reason you cited, you need to periodically run your code on real hardware. The second suggestion is to minimize assembly language level cod

1. Plan9 has no hard links so if you copy unix dir. tree to a plan9 machine you'd lose all the hard link info. 2. Venti doesn't use fossil or inodes. Venti is just content addressable storage system; not a fileserver/system.

s9fes is another small Scheme that runs on Unixes, OS X, Plan9 & Windows. The code is in public domain and fully described in a very nice book "Scheme 9 From Empty Space: a guide to implementing Scheme in C". It weighs in at

Except in languages with tail recursion such as Scheme! A state ends with a call to the next state instead of a goto next state.

Might be more fruitful to think of a graph or tree "ecosystem" rather than just an editor. For an ecosystem one can think of the following aspects: - a representation that can be shared by various tools, possibly in parallel. Allo

As I understand it, Mill has no privilege mode so I don't see why you need even L4! Providing a Unix compatible API (all except fork()) is basically just building a modular emulator. Mostly grunge work once you work out the access righ

I haven't looked at vim code in ages but if it is really 300K lines of code, I wouldn't refactor it in any major way. If I absolutely wanted to scratch that particular itch, I'd rewrite it from scratch. In another language (n

Why not teach assembly language programming so that the student can really understand how a computer works, and teach Scheme so that they can really understand the power of abstraction, recursion, functional programming etc. A later course

TCAMs have three problems for such applications: 1) limited key length (usually less than 64 bytes) 2) power-hungry as you are comparing against every key 3) limited size -- try getting a 4GB TCAM!
