In the end, uv will be the pyenv + poetry replacement, and supersede rye.

Not a US right expert. Isn’t the “you can’t criticize ever the company or you’ll lose the vested equity” a violation of the first amendment?

I discovered marimo by chance some months ago and have been surprised by the incredible pace of development. New features are being added constantly and the dev team is incredibly responsive and open. Keep it up!

The API looks nice, congratulations. Will experiment with it. One small silly question: why did you choose to specify the dependencies inside the src dir with the requirements format - rather than inside the pyproject?

I like pixi, but I am not likely to make the switch. They don't support pyproject.toml and other standards. This disqualifies it from being a potential "recommended tool" by PyPA or whatever.

Not a huge fan of poetry since it does not comply with standards (PEP621 PEP518...). But it has a great UX compared to alternatives. My go-to has been PDM: which is basically PEP-compliant poetry. But it is being maintained by one dev only

I suppose no-GIL Python will be here in no less than 3/4 release cycles. 3.11 has been out for a year and most Python code in prod is what, 3.8? So I guess we won’t have to deal with this at scale before idk 2030 is approaching. I also

The guy TJ De Vries works at Sourcegraph + contributes to neovim and he’s building sg.nvim - a plug-in to hook Sourcegraph AND their code assistant Cody to neovim LSP.

I don’t fully disagree, but I get that the author just wanted something straightforward and oversimplified because the scope of the article was something else.

I am genuinely curious about wasabi, the python LSP they announced on Meta open source but is not available anywhere. Would love to try that out, there is not enough competition in the LSP space in Python and it would foster new development

Congratulations! I starred it a long time ago but never used it (sorry). But I do think this IS the way to go for Jupyter. I don't know how I could contribute to this - lack of time, but mostly knowledge, but I would love to find other

PDM in my experience has been the best, plus it's rapidly growing, and is more PEP compliant than poetry. My go-to choice, been advocating it since I found out about it!
