Yes and when the AI did that all the stupid humans could accept its output without question. This would save the humans a lot of work and thought and personal responsibility for any mistakes! See also Israel’s Lavender for an exciting examp

ML/AI is not my domain but you don’t have to get all that technical to understand that LLMs run on probability. We need a new architecture to solve these problems.

Right, we shouldn’t use humans or LLMs. We should use regular deterministic computer programs. For cases where that is not available, we should use a human and never an LLM.

I take it you are unfamiliar with the “do not get addicted to water” speech in Mad Max.

I think this might be an issue that’s independent of sugar. Something something dopamine and serotonin. I also do not have issues with sugary foods, but I did in the past when my life was more stressful.

My software engineering course was about the software development life cycle, different business methodologies like agile and waterfall, and working in a group. It was very helpful. I would have appreciated “how to create a maintainable cod

not to beat a dead horse but… they can’t do any of this. they can do about 20-90% of this and then hallucinate the rest, rendering the entire thing useless I’m really not sure what your angle is here in ignoring that basic fact

I had this course. I can’t remember what they called it. But a very enthusiastic guy in shorts taught us how to use Linux, the command line, git, etc.

Love this. My brother’s chickens like to try to sleep in the trees at night. Guess we’ll have to put together the Chicken Fetcher 3000 :)

yes… just one more data center… one more model… one million more gallons of water… it’s going to work any second now, I swear… we definitely can get human level output without human level intelligence… i promise…

Your potato RTX that uses a finite amount of power, is already paid for, and does things that you know are useful verses your supercomputer cluster and circular funding economy that uses infinite power, is 10x more overleveraged than the do

I just started talking back. I started about 3 years ago. Every time I heard that critical voice, I would summon a different voice in response, of someone who loves and supports me unconditionally. Like an ideal mother, or just the way I ta

You’re at least further along than people who aren’t aware of their weaknesses. Interestingly enough, once I started forgiving myself for my flaws, a significant portion of them went away.

I thought this too when I was younger. After living in the US over the last decade and observing… things, I would rather we focus on curing all personality disorders as the main thing. _Then_ we can go to space. :)

I am sometimes tickled and intrigued by the (very New Agey woo-flavored) idea that consciousness is the fundamental building block of reality, not matter. It makes absolutely no sense and at the same time makes about as much sense as anythi

The sheer unlikelihood of my individual self being alive and conscious in the present moment really freaks me out sometimes.

That’s already more or less the reality of our situation. If nothing else happens, the sun will begin to die in 5 billion years and eat us in the process. Granted it’s a larger timescale, 5 thousand of millions of years instead of hundreds

I have nothing but admiration for people who can study space and not melt down into a permanent existential crisis. This is cool as heck, and now I’m going to go back to my computer job and try not to think about how ridiculously tiny and f

This confused me too from all those solar object size comparisons I’ve seen. Turns out there are stars that are 1000s of times bigger than the sun, but they aren’t the same density.

I set my mom up with Linux Mint a little over a decade ago, she used it without issue for a few years before changing computers. I don’t think that distro is a thing anymore, but it was Ubuntu based. You might be surprised, there is lots of

The CEO is marketing to the company’s shareholders. This is marketing. A CEO will say anything to sell the idea of their company to other people. Believe it or not, there is money to be made from increased share prices.

I’m pretty sure you could generate a similar list for any human job. It’s strange to me watching the collective meltdown over AI/jobs when AI doesn’t do jobs, it does tasks.

You haven’t listed anything unique to socialism. Capitalism also works well until you’re poor and don’t want to live right next to, I don’t know, a bitcoin mining facility or something. Authoritarians are the ones running down dissidents wi

Deciding who is going to raise children well implies deciding who can raise children implies deciding who can have children. It’s a pretty straightforward line.
