The part about Google offering a sort of vetting service sounds quite plausible, in a "Oh, shit" kind of way. For those of us that try to be anonymous we could have further encumbrance dealing with not being "Google Verified™

Nice. I think the price you're charging for the shirts is overall quite reasonable. Keep it up, ill keep my eye on the kickstarter.

Well, I'm already sold on it, looks like a solid product; however my only questions now are: - How much? - International shipping? How much?

I think the point he is trying to make is that MS falling into irrelevancy correlates with something else replacing their products, thus, the alternatives in this scenario are better. It's a nice thought, and not en entirely pointless

Probably heard it all before but spend about 10 minutes on http://coffeescript.org , read up on it, and you'll have it down.

I used this a bit :). I think everyone should make their own frameworks from scratch so they know exactly how it all works. By the end of it you might, like me, just continue with your own framework (when you can of course).

I agree, you guys are right. Was in a kind of shitty mood when I wrote that and now I'm kicking myself for coming off like the egotistical bitter dick that I know I am. :p. HN deserves less Reddit type smugness. The whole Ghost thing I

But it's not. I just launched a website that handles many taxing db queries over multiple pages and I'm able to achieve ~500 requests per second on a single worker with some simple memory caching. PHP is a waste of resources in th

I keep hearing this in the thread but be realistic guys - never going to happen. Best you can hope for is early release on Linux.

Thats a weak argument. The designers job is to choose sufficiently recognizable icons if they actually want them to be recognized. One magnifying glass looks like most others, and the same goes for most symbols in current widespread use. Ba

I'm with you. Anyone who says CSS is A-OK doesnt understand it fully or doesnt have the imagination for something better to replace it. It's really the most shite language I've ever had to deal with. That's the thing tho

Note: You only need to specify 3 borders. Eg. a triangle pointing down: .triangle-down { border-left: 7px solid transparent; border-right: 7px solid transparent; border-top: 7px solid #444; }

Very cool. Always thought Id make something very much like this in node as a native app (like with the node-webkit), but the idea of cross platform in the browser sounds like its a nice secondary option. Main features would be to track how

I use both browsers regularly, but Firefox out of preference. It amazes me at how under performing chrome has become over the years. Font rendering, for one. The fact that they STILL don't have DirectWrite font rendering on Windows, so

Some tweaks to the design would help! At the top of the page, the search boxes are mis-aligned to the text above them. Fix that. They could also take up more horizontal space, or simply be aligned better. Add an extra ~3-10px of horizontal
