To me, the best argument would be that everything else that we have looked at in the universe appears to be completely materialistic. Do you know some reason why the brain might be different?

Almost. It's non-copyrightable because it is required for interoperability, and is therefore fair-use under US law.

The way it is supposed to be done is with a DMCA complaint, and I don't think you can do that unless you own the IP in question. Or are you saying that they are ignoring DMCA complaints? That is a much more serious accusation.

It seems to me that same argument would apply to my local telephone, power, and natural gas company. Are you saying that they should not be regulated either? Just trying to understand your position here.

You should be able to get a Samsung Captivate from Rogers, which looks to be very similar hardware-wise, though a couple of revs back in OS.

I dunno. I've been completely shampoo free for about 10 months, and soap on anything but my hands is a pretty rare occurrence. Things seem to be going well for me. Your mileage may vary.

Where do you get this Java from to install on OSX? I just checked the Oracle Java site, and they only have it for Solaris, Linux, and Windows.

Java the language may not have much buzz, but other languages running on the JVM sure do. And they will be equally effected, whatever happens.

Why is it evil for companies to take advantage of tax breaks, but the lawmakers who created the tax breaks get a pass. Shouldn't it be the lawmakers who are responsible?

Nonsense. I had a windows mobile phone, and could do all of those things. In hindsight, windows mobile had a pretty awful user interface, but it wasn't apple that caused those things to happen.

The problem is that some of the handset makers (or carriers) don't seem to have much interest in providing updates. Which does make sense, in that there is no money in it for them. It's hard to see what Google can do about that.
