Me too, you're welcome. I still want to see map showing probability contours. It would be good to know just how uncertain the final location of this thing really is.

Interesting analysis. One thing left out: does the plane respond with a defined shifted frequency (like a transponder)? Inmarsat's analysis is most certainly wrong. They need to put the data in the public domain.

*"vocal fry" Do you have an example? I was there too, but have no idea what you mean. Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High perhaps?

It's almost certainly not legal to transmit in cellular bands without a license (other than for the intended use). FCC licenses I've seen have a 'do not interfere' clause, so even if you rigged your handset as a jammer i

I learned the same lesson crossing streets (as a pedestrian) in Rome by watching the locals. Make eye contact, go, and be consistent. The drivers are so alert (because you have to be), that they will stop. Once I learned how to walk across

I agree, as my regularly maxed-out library membership will attest. Why buy-keep-store when you can borrow, and re-borrow?

It's kind of like a video game. A really dull, poorly designed game. But if you win, you win big! It got better once I got to some images taken during daylight hours.

I'll second this. Even more so, in a world of specialization, why not have well trained, enthusiastic, highly specialized teachers spending time with the kids from an early age? There has to be some balance, young kids want to be with

No, but it's much better than nothing. If you're out of shape, 7 min every other day or even 2x per week is a great start. If you're reasonably fit then I agree, 7 min is not enough. I've been both in the last few months

The witty saying is not so much an attempt to prove but a useful summary of one man's experience. In other words, be optimistic, but not delusional. Stay grounded in reality. I imagine that if you interviewed the survivors you speak of

Very common - this is one of the basic mechanisms that mix lakes. To clarify, the summer surface waters are heated by the sun, causing stratification. This is usually broken down in the fall by the combination of wind mixing and heat extrac

Not sure what you get for $12k, but know that it is possible to build an autonomous airplane, and a gopro for much less than that. Here's a friend's video for evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX3kFWoH17o&am

There is a great book that you might want to read, which gets at the thought process at the individual level. It's about a cop who stood up to corruption in his precinct. The movie is good too: http://en.wikipedia.org/w
