One thing I like about subscribing to HN via RSS is that I get to see all the submissions that were flagged or demoted. I clicked this one thinking for sure it would be flagged as it's counter-narrative, but not yet! I'll check ag

I don't really understand what "welcome" means. Historically on the internet people are simultaneously "welcome" and "not welcome," i.e. people discover places of socializing and choose to participate or n

The worst redesign yet. It looks even worse than an early version of Gogs I tried. Of course, if you're paying designers they ultimately have to design something even if it's crap. Ideal github design was maybe in 2012. Unrelated

You should watch the full length video of the fraud bust. It was very clear from the video that the police on the scene seemed to think he was under influence of drugs. They asked repeatedly what he "was on." They commented to bys

Good question. It's not like IP protection is practical in China--this software WILL be used in China against license. It's also basically impossible to hold Chinese companies (often entangled with the communist government of Chin

Most of your list would probably remain intact. The main issue is that Go has a traditional garbage collector, and Nim has ARC, ORC, nogc, gogc, deferred reference counting, and more options for memory management.

Mostly syntax and semantics. Programming with Rust is unlike anything else, at least unlike anything else I've used. Despite the apparent effort they put into making great error messages, I don't think manual lifetime management i

Can kind of say the same about Rust. Benefits aside, it's hard to imagine a more hostile language. Is it the language or the idea of the language people are thrilled about?
