This article utterly misrepresents Tumblr as some kind of paradise. It's definitely not. It's as good and bad as Twitter or Facebook or whatever else. I used Tumblr for years, from probably 2008 until 2017. The real problem as

I used Tumblr for years. From probably 2008 until 2017. It's not entirely optional to interact with radicalised elements on Tumblr. The tagging system lets them find you, and then they can brigade you if you fall foul of whatever pet

They withdrew sales of the original C.H.I.P. months and months ago, without really explaining why. It's quite puzzling, because I ordered four in November 2015 and got them as promised about six months later. I guess maybe they made

I'm fortunate in that I don't come up in the first 10 or so pages if you google my name. I've never gone deeper than that. It's a combination of a pretty generic name and an early, almost accidental, decision not to us

I'm the same, and very grateful that the mistakes and generally embarrassing stuff I posted probably didn't get archived or saved anywhere. The contents of my Xoom site are long gone, and so are the comments in my BeSeen guestboo

I read about that way back and wondered what happened to it. I guess now I know why it never came to anything. Such a shame!

At an old temp job I had, my manager, much older than me, habitually photocopied faxes as they were received precisely because the thermal paper fades over time. Even stored well, in the dark, in a dry box, they'll gradually fade over

I use offlineimap[1] and it absolutely does work. It keeps everything on the IMAP server while giving me a local copy to work from. It's super simple to setup and use, and I'm really happy with it. [1]: http://www.off

+1 for the Happy Hacking Keyboard Pro. I use one. Relatively expensive, but brilliant -- very much my favourite ever switch and keyboard.

I work on the basis that nearly nothing I have is of much value when I die. I aggressively prune my data on an ongoing basis as I'm doing it. Any bill over store years old, I delete; any unflagged email over three years old, I delet

That's been my experience of LED bulbs -- either they die quick or last years. I bought a dozen of really cheap Chinese ones about 2011 or so. More than half died within 6 months, another crop in under a year, and I've got two o

It's definitely possible that's what's happening. He's never looking at me when he does it -- he's always eating, facing away from me, and I'm placing scoops into the bowls from behind him. I don't rule

I've tried to catch him out like that with a couple of variation, and he always sticks with the bowl with most scoops. I'll put a single scoop in his bowl -- which he starts to eat straight away -- then three scoops in the other

It's not scientific, and based purely on my own observation, but I'm reasonably sure that one of my cats can count to a limited degree. He's a rescue on a special diet for his weight, as we have a small scoop to measure out h

I'm one of those people who falls into that group -- I can, and have, used a static site generator, but have nearly zero programming knowledge so couldn't make one of my own. The biggest issue I have now is choosing which one t

What $LANG would you use if you had the time to dedicate to the project and were rewriting it starting today? Why would you choose $LANG? (Not an attack -- a genuine question because I'm interested in your choice and reasoning.)

Can't recommend this game highly enough. It's still a work-in-progress, but it still has a lot of depth and is great fun to play. Steep learning curve, like most Rogue-likes, but really worth it. It has a pretty active community
