She spends a considerable fraction of her day turning non-issues (such as the term "domain driven design" [1]) into major issues. I really empathize with her coworkers; it must be really difficult to work with a person like this.

Did you just compare yourself with Terry Tao? Or are you comparing Glenn Greenwald—a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and one who helped Snowden tell his story—with crackpots who send Tao their papers?

Careful about what specifically? You say that Greenwald has gone off the rails. But would you have written this comment if this article of Greenwald criticized conservative media outlets instead of liberal ones?

The article you linked is almost 6 months old and says absolutely nothing about recent events related to Substack and the calls for censoring certain writers. And where does it call Greenwald's "bullshit"?

I mostly get my news through RSS feeds (I have a small Python script that makes use of readability-lxml to convert partial RSS feeds -- the kind that most news websites provide -- into full feeds).

I don't mind paying for news, but almost all news websites would keep track of what I read if I do that, and it's easy to figure out a person's political biases from their reading habits.

Might I suggest distributing your app as an AppImage? snaps require the snap package manager (snapd) to be installed on your system. AppImages, on the other hand, run out of the box after a chmod +x.
