That particular human error would have been impossible if using another popular language (other than perhaps C++).

While it has its good points, Go lacks the performance and memory footprint of C programs in constrained environments, or at the system level.

True, though hopefully it will make people thing that, no matter how smart the programmers working on a project of a similar caliber are, there will be, for the most part, vulnerabilities like this caused by using C.

Furthermore, by making a blog post about it, it seems that they have pushed more of their userbase to delete their accounts (judging by reading the comments section on the blog post).

While I know what you're getting at, it is possible to have X > 50% of a sample be better (or worse) than the average -- just being pedantic :)

Actually, even "modern" C++ is a step up from plain C. That being said, I am really looking forward for Rust.

Are you still in the game dev field? Great job on the book by the way. Edit: Oh, are you the one whom Herb Sutter used his benchmark in the Build conference talk about C++ a few days ago?

I've been meaning to do something like that myself. Did you use off the shelf tools for crypto, or did you write something yourself?

That's mainly the conclusion I came to as well. I find Go nice to use for writing web apps and services. For anything more complex/critical and/or with a high demand for correctness, I find using Rust to be a no-brainer compa
