But let’s say you were able to see it all somehow. Your lab was also the data center, powerplant, etc. You see the fans spinning, the turbines moving, and exhaust coming out. Do you change what you do? Or do you look around, see all the oth

It’s very interesting this is gpu time based because: 1. Different energy sources produce varyings of co2 2. This likely does not include co2 to make the GPUs or machines 3. Humans involved are not added to this at all, and all of the impac

> Who cares that you don't care about Java? It was framed as a personal factoid (used to use Java, now don’t), followed up by a question for everyone else: “Am I the only one?”And that’s why there’s healthy discussion to my comment

They seem to disagree :) Given I was polite, curious, and not leaving a “throwaway comment” that was on the broader topic (let alone the numerous substantive replies), it’s giving zealotry to me. Oh well.

Because it’s the design of the product? Every product is designed with a specific usage in mind. This is designed to be wireless, hence all of the ways in which it enforces and enables that. The battery lasts a very long time, so even in yo

But it’s not an apology, it’s the right design decision. The battery charges to a usable amount extremely quickly, and if you could plug it in all the time most would, which defeats the point.

Are you the reason I got downvoted? I was very surprised by that. I’ve spent years writing Java and later Scala, in academia and later production. I’ve always followed to see how the JVM and the language/ecosystem has progressed. And n

I’ve basically forgotten about Java. It would never occur to me to start a new project in it. Am I the only one? It feels like I’d reach for python if I want fast development and flexibility, Go if I want to handle a bunch of I/O concu

There’s a lot of negative commentary here, but this is the first HN alternative I’ve bookmarked. Yes lots could be improved, but I think the concept is nice! Thanks for making this!

How would early puberty affect who you’re attracted to, or what you see your gender as? I can tell you my attraction has been consistent before and after puberty. And trans friends speak of having gender dystopia at a very young age.

What was all the money? It's so far worked out for Tesla, and at least of the major auto companies in the US they're still alive when they could have gone under previously. Supporting new private industry is good policy, if done w

The biggest problem is the cost of education. People have loans to repay, and then don’t take time to apprentice like they used to. In dentistry this leads to a lot of unnecessary work. In medicine this leads to very short appointments, and

I’m guessing your cast iron pan isn’t polished. If it is, you can get it to be non stick. Stainless steel also works very well. You just need to preheat it to get the Leidenfrost effect.

You’re falling down that slippery slope pretty fast there. You can filter your tap water; there are various ways to do so. I’m sorry your water is contaminated. That’s awful. I wouldn’t always assume the worst with the cows milk and butter.
