Many regulated industries have drug tests. I personally have been asked for drug tests in finance (capital market) and health care. I'm pretty sure defense contractors, as well as governments and some government-adjacent jobs might req

You got a few choices: 1. Get a new job. Market is fantastic. 2. Step up and run the team for him. I've done both in my past, both worked out well for me. My old boss still pings me from time to time for job offers, etc..

Enterprises have been trying to outsource development for the last two decades and failed miserably. The low-code/no-code trend is mostly a bust like AI/ML. Chasing hipster languages is rat race. If you are strong in Java, with re

A few things that I wished I knew when I first started. Never outshine your boss. Spread credits around but make sure your boss knows you are responsible privately. I learned this the hard way. People overestimate what they can achieve i

I vaguely remember one of my engineering professors mentioned mandatory job rotation within some defense contractors as a way to prevent that. The trade-off is that no one becomes an absolutely specialist in an area. His field was radar-rel

Using CSS & XPATH to select elements is very natural to web pages. BS4 has very limited CSS selector support and zero XPATH support.

I used scrapy a lot. Just my opinion: 1. Instead of creating a urls global variable, use start_requests function. 2. Don't use beautifulsoup to parse, use CSS or XPATH. 3. If you are going into multiple pages over and over again, use C
