If they're going to be replaced by robots soon, isn't that a good reason to not fear spending on them, since they are a short-term cost?

Thing is they don't need to. They could just tap a bit into their huge revenues before re-investing them in making planes or making huge acquisitions.

I'm pretty sure they could still offer this service and treat employees well. Implying Amazon _needs_ to be like this is largely turning a blind eye to the problem.

Exactly. If there's money to re-invest, there should be money to treat employees at least decently.

This assumes a lot of technical aspects. I'd like to learn more about the actual capabilities of the network before making assumptions like this.

Would be interesting if they built something like SMS/iMessage, where within the ecosystem emails were encrypted but when sent outside they weren't. Of course, hopefully PGP, and not some custom, private API like iMessage.

Thought: it might be "state backed and protected interests" there, but it has historically been "vc/wall st backed investor interests" here. Here the big tech business is ads and data collection, but other creative

My info wasn't leaked-- if it had been, I'm not sure if it would tell you how it was leaked (wether it was you who gave access to "This Is Your Digital Life" or a friend). If you're actually very curious, all I can

Name, email, friend list sounds reasonable, but how do you know they've got your photos? Curious; has it been revealed what information they collected?

I think the reason this isn't being reported much on is because it wasn't a leak. It sounds like it was just a scrape of data from the site. Scraping websites to collect public information is nothing new. Malicious actors do it al

People have back-ends. Of course I know "back-end" is very broad, I just thought we were in the same page here, talking about a web back-ends, that is all. Under that broad definition of the term, sure, go ahead and rant.

Fair comment, thought something similar when I first read this, but ML falls into its own category IMO because it's not part of the "application" most of the time. It's back-end in that it's not front-end, but it&#x

I think the key would be to embed it to some existing appliance; like a router, game console, or other "always-on" and connected device. I don't see the home server being the prime selling point. Everyone needs a router, so i

I guess what the previous comment was getting at is that it at least has _some_ value outside of being a financial tool. Bitcoins aren't even physical so they are not even useful as paperweights.
