Whats weird that you, as a white man, feel the need to speak on behalf of people of color. You dont need to do that.

Unicode has gone too far. A handful of emojis, fine. Pictures are not language. We don't need a bunch of new pictures to "support the world's writing systems" (their own words).

Latency. You cant play video games on the cloud. Google tried and failed.

Melanin production is stimulated by UV so over time the response is absolutely non linear.

No it isnt. Two photons is twice as much transmission than one photon, but both cases are totally insignificant.

This is such a bad article without a single graph or table, and no clear link to the original report. Why not just link to the original which has a clean infographic? Its honestly super infuriating. https://www.choice.com.au/

What about all the websites that either shut down or fully blocked the UK? Is that censorship?

Are you sure they aren't just giving you a politically correct answer? In my estimation the main reason people use VPNs is for pr*n and piracy and they may not want to just flat out admit it.

You missed the point entirely. You can't actually tell if an article is AI-assisted or not. A writer that doesn't leverage AI is going to get outcompeted full stop.

Why would you think a writer would spend three hours on a single paragraph when it ends up being indistinguishable from ChatGPT? Is that an efficient use of time? How would such a writer that spends that much time per paragraph even survive

Okay, but for something like SQL this seems like a bad idea.

No? So you have to look at database history to extract information you think is useful? That's a terrible database design.

> If you think it's sophistry you're missing the point. Let's break it down: I'd be happy to respond to something that isn't ChatGPT, thanks.

Why do people keep going down this sophistry? Claude is a tool, a piece of technology that you use. Your parents are not. LLMs are not people.

4chan is not in the UK and ofcom has no jurisdiction. This would be like Singapore trying to prosecute you for smoking marijuana in your own home in the U.S.

In general I agree, but I think this is one of those cases where theres no oversimplifying, it really is just what you see on its face. A UK bureaucracy is threatening fundamental and constitutional rights of an American. Its so outrageous,

Assuming rooftop, there are too many cons with angled installations so it may not be realistic to change the angle. Flat mounted is the way to go (IMO).

Just because humans are imperfect and fall for scams and phishing doesn't mean we should knowingly build in additional attack mechanisms. That's insane. Its a false dilemma.

Is there a difference between "OK" and "Mediocre"?

Ok, I didn't know that. I thought it was just a shorthand for people in leadership positions with lots of expertise.

"Thought leader" isn't an actual title (or at least it shouldn't be). In my mind, its simply someone who you recognize as having the expertise worth paying attention to.

A comment in a previous thread stuck with me said something like "AI is successful because nothing else interesting is happening". That rings true and I suspect the bubble won't burst until something else comes along to steal

I think the main problem is access, not quality. I.e. AI isn't allowed to offer me a refund because my order never arrived. For that, I have to spend 20 minutes on the phone with Mike from India.
