It's also a one of a kind and may never actually be used, but instead displayed in someone's private collection. Who cares if it's not particularly usable, it was not designed to be used from what I can tell.

Yes, dumping a huge diff of all the changes they've made to their internal LLVM project today would definitely be the right thing to do; I'd guess it's on the order of at least hundreds of thousands of lines of code. What App

"helped promote LLVM/Clang", what, you mean by creating and doing the majority of the work on Clang? That's promotion? And I suppose Microsoft only promote Windows?

As a user of OS X, I'm highly in favour of this move. I profer the greater openness that BSD licenced alternatives give, and as a BSD fan the benefits to the BSD community have been fantastic. Please don't state opinion as fact.

What is patented is a method of compressing data using algorithm X. If you can thing of something else which wouldn't be considered compressing data using algorithm X, then you're free to use algorithm X for this new and inventive

From what I know of the space, ARM is not used very much at all in cars or aviation. These are both areas where PowerPC dominates. I'd guess most modern cars have at least a dozen PowerPC chips. And both ARM and PowerPC outsel x86 by a

You understand Apple aren't the only developers of Clang right? It's their project, but there's nothing stopping anyone else (say Google, which are also huge contributors) from forking their own version of Apple decide to do

Didn't Clang/compiler-rt have full support before GCC/libcxx (or whatever it's called) did? In my mind, and the minds of most others, this means actual full C++1 support. GCC claimed it early, but only because the compi

The wayback bachine is used routinely, at least in Australia, to show that a web document was publicly available before the priority date of an application. One problem is that if the document happens to be from the domain of the applicant

No, the mechanism by which patents work is by temporarily banning others from using something an applicant has invented in creating. It by no means stops others competing, and it encourages innovation by making them come up with alternative

I would strongly dispute this, and ask that you provide some proof that this happens. Examiners are quite well versed in their technology areas, and can see when a known idea has just been tweeked.

Prior art most definitely addresses the non-obviousness side of things. To show something is non-obvious, examiners will usually take two documents which together disclose all the features of the claimed invention, and say it would be obvio

The title of a patent has absolutely nothing at all to do with it's scope. Any company who was sued would surely consult a lawyer and they would tell them the scope of the patent is defined in the claims.

Did both reddit gold, or Facebook promoted posts exist before the priority date? If not, they're irrelevant (except to the applicant as a target for infringement).
