Question: in the double slit experiment, is the electron gun positioned in the center of the double slit setup?

Here is a goofy layman explanation: -particles have variable density and gravity. -particles rotate. -slits create multiple paths. -particle rotation + variable density and gravity makes particles choose multiple paths. It's an explana

Well, MOVE, as described in the article, is exactly the same as MVC, since views are notified for state changes via events, and controllers are notified by views via events as well.

We certainly need some standardization over binary formats, that's for sure. It could take away a lot of redundant work that's been done over and over again (i.e. serialization/deserialization). This need not be at O/S l

We could make driving fully automatic by going the train route, i.e. filling roads with tracks and letting the cars move on those tracks only, fully automated. But that's not really sexy, is it? it just doesn't sell as well as ful

The article presents the situation as if limiting the number of threads by the operating system is not a conscious choice by Microsoft but a natural law that cannot be avoided. Microsoft deliberately does these limitations in order to force

After reading the web page posted above, and the comments in here, I've reached the conclusion that Docker, Nix, etc are trying to solve a problem that shouldn't exist, and that the actual problem is at the operating systems'

These are the top problems in my opinion: 1) computers handle bits and bytes, not information. If computers can be made to create, search, update and delete pieces of information, instead of bits and bytes, 90% of code would go away and lif

What I would like to know is what the software bug was. Unfortunately the article does not say it, and I am sure no information online exists about this.

Not a long term approach, in my humble opinion (as a C++ veteran that has worked with it for 20 years). What the language needs is a new set of types that will ensure memory safety. Using the old types with the new ones should not allow the

You can't compare C++ and C in complexity in general. Any C program that does the same things as C++ does is bound to be just as complex, and even more so since C lacks many of the C++'s niceties.

Success requires 3 things: 1) talent. 2) luck. 3) hard work. Talent allows one to have that idea that will provide a large client base when implemented. Luck allows the ideas to catch on because it is the right time for those ideas. Hard wo

We really can't reach any actual conclusion at this point. We may say today that interstellar travel is impossible, but tomorrow we may find a solution. We may say today that we are alone, only to be visited by intelligent aliens somew

Has anyone ever tried to develop (or more appropriately, grow) an actual artificial biological brain, instead of a computer program? Perhaps trying to grow something like a brain may give us an insight on the actual algorithm used.

If I was the maintainer and someone offered a patch that didn't alter the properties of my code, but improved it, I'd be more then glad to accept it. Unnecessary drama because of inflated egos.

Too much drama for no reason. Haskell is a programming language; it has some neat features, and some downsides. If it's the right tool for the job at hand, use it, otherwise use something else.

Personally I am not convinced a particle is a wave until collapsed. There is nothing in the double slit experiment that definitely proves that. It may be that light particles bounce off something and change trajectory and create the illusio

I couldn't agree more. I think our Umwelt is formed by our senses, especially the touch: our skin allows us to form a model, in our brain, of our body, and its movement abilities. That's the reason why we have the Phantom Limb phe

As a young Greek, I had no idea the battle of Alesia was real. It was something that I read on Asterix, and since the name of the Gallic leader was Vercingetorix, I thought the entire thing was made up by Uderzo/Goscinny :-). Thanks to

Sorry but I cannot stand the separation of structs/classes and 'classes' being 'by reference' and structs by value types. It's the reason I don't like D. C++ makes a lot more sense: the type declaration is
