Am I the only one that feels like there's a striking resemblance between these events and any large scale pump and dump scheme? Just a thought (:

I think you're misinterpreting my message. People aren't inherently stupid, but they are extremely susceptive to go down the shortest route without thinking twice (even if it's not the optimal in other regards: distance vs sp

A few things to factor in: time spent in a supermarket is very different from time spent online. People are used to typing a query and the top 5 results that are yielded are the winners 90% of the time. Very few people will go beyond that.

Annoyingly yes. If flutter web behaved like a true web(whether that be through building html elements or through canvas), it would have been a breath of fresh air and for once not a cluttered codebase of 8000 npm modules, html templates and

If you liked the docs, you should definitely check out the source code. It's not just poetry by C standards, it's poetry by Shakespearean standards. Hands down the best code I've ever seen. What makes it more astonishing is t

Huh... I was thinking about investing exactly 1000$ in Tesla in 2010. Two things stopped me: my skepticism when it comes to stocks and I somehow didn't want to invest 1/3 of what I had at the time, though the path ahead of me was

So do I. Mind you, no words can express how much I miss google reader. Mid-last year I got motivated to start building it myself but eventually moved away since it's way too much for a single person to handle.

That's only partially true. With document schemas, you simply eliminate the DBA since whatever you put in there is entirely up to you. In all fairness I've never dealt with DBAs - I've always managed to get a technological fr

Despite having used document oriented databases for many years(largely because they were shoved down my throat and I inherited someone else's architecture), I never really managed to figure out why people find them so compelling. There

Tbh I've always seen LinkedIn as heaven for egomaniacs. My profile has a fake name, doesn't have a photo and the most current employment data is from 2012...

Something like this could be incredibly helpful with arxiv articles: being able to pin-point a fragment of text or a formula to the actual implementation. This could save so much time and ping-ponging between the article and the code.

Similar approach taken in France[1] not that long ago. What seems interesting here is the fact that France uses Malinois dogs, which seems a bit odd. They are insanely trainable and smart(I am saying that as someone who owns a working line

Veeery impressive! Side note: By pure coincidence I spent 5-6 hours this weekend playing around with an sdr dongle and a raspberry pi (specifically sending images over fm). And I have to say, the ecosystem around sdr's is annoyingly po

Many many years ago I used to own and maintain a site which was getting a good amount of traffic at it's peak(that was around 2010-2011). It was getting something along the lines of 25-30k visitors per day, and much like the post here,
