I get very distracted very easily when I'm not in the zone, and when the work isn't interesting, I find it hard to get in the zone. Maybe it's just a skill I need to work on.

I get what you're saying, but having a few scant hours outside of work doesn't really qualify, at least in terms of quality of life. I'm talking about revenue-producing projects that I work on full time, and potentially have enough revenue

Why does the US tie health care to employment? Why is it not tied to the individual and thus transferrable between employers?

When I signed up for an account, there was no obvious prompting to go and turn it on. It's all well and good having extra security, but if you don't actively try to get your users to make use of it, it's only going to be marginally useful.

Yes, but we have to assume the majority of people are not going to be particularly educated on stuff like this. Implementing simple checks before confirming a transfer out of an account should be a given.

MtGox really does run a subpar operation. There should be additional security checks when transferring money out of an account, and there should be the option to enable multifactor authentication. Back when they were originally hacked, this

Wow, that's really nice! The only other nice theme I've seen is the Soda theme (which I currently use), so kudos for providing a high quality alternative.

Just noticed the "Bring tabs into OneTab" will bring in a detached developer tools window, which then doesn't work when reactivated as it's loaded as its own tab, detached from the original page.

Where is the link to the search page? When I go to github.com and it displays my dashboard, I can't find anything resembling a link to the search page. There's the command bar, but it doesn't seem to provide code search unless you click the

Everyone I've spoken with an iPhone to has had problems with Apple's maps and wishes they would put Google's maps back in. Most of Britain is affected in one way or another, even just to the point of missing a lot of detail that we previous

Compatibility mode isn't what he's talking about. In the developer tools, there's also "browser mode", which allows you to select a different user agent, and "document mode", which allows you to select a rendering engine from IE7 onwards.

Without funding, it's the only way I have to move towards the freedom to work on my own products and ideas full time. Can't quit my job to work on my own company unless I can also pay rent, buy food, etc.

The Amazon S3 support seems to suggest that the authors believe it is acceptable to store your AWS key ID and "secret" key in your client-side JavaScript code. Am I missing something here?

I would imagine he's referring to the non-blocking IO and evented model. ASP.Net and friends use threads for everything, which allows for heavier processing, but also is more restrictive in terms of concurrency.

Hmm, I dunno. I still can't quite come to terms with the fact that with tablets, we've essentially got the equivalent of overlaying our keyboard on our screen every time we want to type something and obscuring half of the visuals on the scr

Unfortunately for Elliot, myself and the countless other non-Americans in the software development world, Stripe is not available (yet) outside of the USA. Stripe have stated that they're working very hard on breaking out into other countri

I think it would be more apt to call this a driveable compact plane. It clearly looks a lot more like a plane than it does a car, it just happens to be compact with folding wings and four wheels on the base.

This is a very old article. One of the pages links to this page - http://www.nationalgeographic.com/nyunderground/docs/myth000... - which suggests using RealPlayer 3.0 and Shockwave 5.0.

Yes but if your product is the viewer and your decisions cause the number of viewers to decrease over time, you're damaging your product, and that will reduce the value of that product to your customers.

All the talk with regards to funding is generally focussed around either bootstrapping with customer revenue from day 1, and/or taking funding from angels and VCs. Where does Silicon Valley Bank fit into the picture? I've basically never se
