I find this so hard to deal with. There's party of me screaming at the screen saying what is happening is so so so wrong more, but another part of me fears for my family. The fact I fear for my family feels like my head is above the pa

I know you are joking, but I do think there is a certain argument to be made that should it be proven that the reason the crash fatality happened was due to speeding, then I don't see why somebody should not be done for a form of murde

Think your analogy is wrong. He had a gun and knew there was a chance a bullet would come down and hit somebody. He still fired the shot. There really is no excuse for speeding. I think the figure of 30% of fatal car crashes are down to spe

I can remember in the 90s being part of a team where Software Lines of Code (SLOC) was a monthly metric. Highest won a bottle of champagne. People actually stopped writing loops. It got a bit crazy.

I would say your loss. The film is about a guy who had an idea, used the resources around him to make that idea a reality while relying on his friends and people in the industry he works in to come to together and make it a reality. The onl

I really have to disagree here. I have a 9 year old daughter who should be able to ride to school, but the roads are not 'safe' for kids to ride on. The problem with that 'cult' is that it is driven from a fear that once

No the issue in the UK is the concept of vehicular cycling (you ride your bike and pretend you are a car and share the road space). It has been the main way the UK has pushed cycling for decades. Only recently (last couple of years) has the

Seriously awesome list. Book marked and sent to friends/people I work with. In a way shame this hit HN on a Saturday, this is one of those lists people need to find when sitting at their desk.

I'm not even going to attempt to read this article. What I will say is I can remember in the late 80's early 90's management declaring that programming would be dead within 10 years and you would only have to describe what you wanted done t

I'm going to put a request in because this stuff does my head in slightly, can we have measurements in grams? Not sure how that would work for a 'cup of kale'. I can see myself buying a bunch of American measurements just to use this site.

I know this seems odd, but are we not, all as a society, doing the same thing with vehicle related deaths? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-re... So the UK 'allows' 2222 deaths to occur (USA - 33808) as they perce

I think the problem is going to be visibility. You're going to be really low to the ground and somebody looking over their shoulder/looking in the mirror might miss seeing you. At which point you are sideswiped and dead.

We have a rule. No electronic devices at the dinner table. Ever. If we're out with friends and our kid is 'bored' then we usually let her play on her tablet. It's the upgrade from crayons and paper when she was young.
