Oh man, I've been holding off on upgrading Alfred for a while because I didn't see the point, and now I'm upgrading so I can download a free add-on. This is an honest killer app for Alfred's new workflow feature.

Ember Data can be really powerful, but is even far worse in the "black box of magic" department than Ember itself. There's a lot of crazy internal state and logic being fired off in all directions, and it can lead to very strange state erro

So, naming the site "9GAG for Android" was asking for trouble. That's a clear-cut trademark issue, even if the app itself was named "Nine." Content ownership is a little murkier, of course, because 9GAG is a company that thrives off stealin

It weirds me out that nowhere in the docs does it just list the libraries it builds on. Browsing through, I see Domina, Ring, Datomic, something called "slf4j", and a bunch of functions within the Pedestal namespace... and it never really e

Riccitiello's actually had a rocky tenure, with quite a few new IPs "failing" under his watch. Of course, remember, this is EA - to them, Dead Space, the most popular survival horror franchise of the last five years, underperformed . Still

The Google Wave grave reminds me of what a weird non-product that was. Has anyone done a good post-mortem/retrospective on that? Always seemed ahead of its time on a lot of levels, especially technically (one of the few times I've ever seen

Well, clearly, they are crazy people. Nah, kidding. So they're totally right that there's a significant amount of state in the router, in that that's where you define which model and controller (and, depending on how fancy you get, what vie

While I actually totally agree with the confusion in the router, I want to explain what I see in Ember's MVC: As far as I attempted to implement it in my app ( https://github.com/thomasboyt/noted-app ), it seemed simple enough. Models were

Important to note that this only works for pushState/history API-based routing, not Ember's default hashchange-based routing. Still, it'd be cool to see this merged back into Ember JS as at least the starting point for querystring support i

Thus the "somewhat." Still, I've downloaded everything from torrent clients to open source video games from SourceForge, and many of those projects have (or, much more likely, had ) active support forums on SF. It's a shame that they haven

SourceForge still has a niche that's significantly different from GitHub or Google Code: it's made to be somewhat friendly to end-users of large open source apps. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't fully pivoted to being an open source "a

Here's a Wired article about it, for those who can't connect: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2013/01/dndclassics/ It's pretty much a total hodgepodge of out-of-print material. You won't find 4th edition rulebooks or anything like that, bu
