There's always a trade-off between exploration/exploitation - in any optimization, we're incapable of enumerating every path to our intended goal or the associated cost. We need some time to experiment, fail and learn - and u

This looks really interesting - but I have to admit it's gone completely over my head. Can someone break this down into simpler terms?

Great article and spot on for anyone who's ever dipped their toe into the waters of selling to enterprises. It's a draining and frustrating experience. The problem - as the author mentions - is that it can be so incredibly lucrati

Yeah, this has been my experience. I haven't had a build agent disappear, but lack of build caching is very frustrating. The hosted build agents are slow to begin with, let alone needing 5 minutes for every build to restore packages. A

Not quite. Unsupervised learning implies that there are no human-annotated labels whatsoever (in this context, meaning that the model had no paired translations at all). Zero-shot learning (usually) means that the model can generalize learn

It's a catch-all term for "learning to solve a task without seeing any specific training examples for that task." In this context, it's learning to translate from (say) Czech to Urdu, without ever having been explicitly

I think most ML-derived languages strike the right balance - functional languages that incorporate enough OOP principles to get things done in the real world. I increasingly advocate F#, and many people recommend Elixir for these purposes t

FWIW, I do recall DDG regularly giving me results for Melbourne, Florida (when I actually want Melbourne, Australia). E.g. if I search for <a href=' https://duckduckgo.com/?q=melbourne+restaurant&t=ffab&atb=v1

Said tools exist, though they're not particularly successful. Word is just too easy to use - even if the replacement is 5% better (which is unlikely), that's not enough to prompt a shift.

I've been slowly migrating from C# to F# for our automation assistant ( https://lexico.io - not yet usable yet but will be soon), and like the top comment here, my only regret is that I didn't do so sooner. Functional l

> IMHO F# has the potential to be WAY more friendly for prototyping and more. It's all a matter of the libs. Yeah, I've been dropping down to Visual Studio's F# console regularly to test things in a REPL-like environment.

Spot on. It's such a fascinating dynamic - on the one hand, you've got large players with incredibly deep pockets, coasting on market inertia despite utterly dysfunctional internal structures. On the other, you've got small,

The poster children of the dotcom boom certainly were - pets.com, webvan, etoys.com (though I can't say with 100% certainty they were all specifically listed on NASDAQ). It was the IPOs that drove the boom (and subsequent bust). Public
