That looks awesome . I don't use a device that runs iPhone OS, but it's a brilliant idea and looks beautiful. As a side note: I'm a huge fan of Shovebox. I use quick jot at least once an hour.

Clever idea. Pretty impressive language support and I like the way the output is presented with some useful meta information. I would love to see the team at Github integrate this into the http://gist.github.com platform. I assume the res

To reply to your question about legality directly: I don't think the arrangement as such is illegal [1], rather, the fact that the corporation hasn't paid taxes on it's income is what the problem is. I'll give you my gut feeling here (and p

This. Not my finest wording, but as an unbiased observer, that is how it looks. And you can be sure that if the IRS is going to be biased, it sure as hell isn't going to be in your favor.

You've essentially set up a dummy corporation to shuttle money outside the United States to avoid paying US tax. Not only that, but I read in the comments that the friend who you've set up as a director is also not in the States? You should

These are basically rack-mounted boxes (the one I worked with was bright yellow and looked pretty awesome) that quite literally are, under contract, not allowed to be tampered with besides providing power and plugging in cables. They do wor

I am excited they finally decided to push HotCocoa a bit more. I think it is an absolutely killer way to write basic Mac apps.

The whole Google Account vs. Gmail account thing is confusing for people who never started off with Gmail. I did, and so things sort of "fell into place" for a lot of this very quickly on as Google started rolling out more features. I sus

I don't think you got my point: I think, with (essentially) a giant hinge down either side, despite how much stronger whatever alloy is going to be, the container may not be as structurally stable as the current design. The current design i

From my limited experience in the freight and export business, I am skeptical that they managed to design a collapsable container and reduce weight without compromising the structural integrity of the container. Standing in a shipyard and s

Despite Blade Runner being one of my favorite films (if not the favorite, given how I'm feeling pitting it against 2001), I still completely agree. They're very different in a lot of ways, though--I might go as far as to say Blade Runner

Nope: when I Ctrl+Shift+T I get the tab back with history on the Chrome Mac Beta.

Chrome has the feature too. More importantly, Firefox and Chrome preserve browsing history. That, along with good keyword searching, is why I never switched to Safari and waited until Chrome's Mac Beta.

Excellent, it performs incremental downloads on subsequent backups. That's a killer feature. I've been looking for something like this, actually--the current situation with downloading posts from Tumblr is quite unwieldy.

Haha this was the first thing I prototyped into my bashrc to incorporate the idea. I used the suggested "$@" myself.

Excellent idea! I especially like the idea of using the `chpwd()` hook to display the current tasks when entering a new directory. I must steal this idea and Bashify it.

Actually, 1Password, a Mac-only app (I think) that I use reminded me of this. For the unaware, the app basically plugs in to your browser and with a "master password" recalls all your logins. I basically go to a webpage, hit the 1p button a

* DVD/CD burning: the fact that people still produce coasters in 2009 is a travesty. * Video authoring: with the complexity of containers, codecs, DVD formats etc. it's still far from what the MP3 was even 6 or 7 years ago, despite iMovie's

That's some amazing traffic. I take it that the rise in iPhone sales makes it worth giving away the app for free[1]? How many people got a free license for the desktop app through MacHeist? I also want to chime in with the fact that ShoveBo

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that. I haven't ever used Tcl besides some tinkering a few years ago, whereas SQLite is used incredibly often, but I'll read any C that's well written.

Until about 18 months ago my source control was a bash file that would create a time-stamped backup of specific hard-coded folders into /usr/sourcebackups. Just a mkdir, name the folder, copy everything as it is. This was run as a cron ever

I think that is painfully high. What is the "extra" 15K? What kind of phone do you use that costs you 5K, travel included? My very expensive phone plan costs me less than 1000/mo because 75% of my calls are made roaming. I spend over 5K a m

It's not an accelerometer that does this, it's a proximity sensor. It's a little preposterous to imagine the phone can account for every possible way I take my phone to my ear. The iPhone uses the accelerometer primarily to rotate the scree
