It's a Subaru, they blow through engines. A relative had a 2014 Forester and it had two engines replaced under warranty. This is apparently a known problem with a certain recent version of their 4 cyl. boxer engines.

Craig Ferengi has to go. Too much of a pretty boy who doesn’t get the need to invest in QA.

Haven’t been bitten by memory leak issues yet, but I feel for you. I had an M1 mini for nine months (lightly used) and had no problems. Switched from an i9 MBP 16” to an M1 Pro 14” a week or two ago. Have had zero problems and it’s the best

In my experience, upgrade everything all the time only works if you can keep your dependencies to a minimum, which can be harder in JS/TS land, but not impossible. I used to think every line of code you write is a liability, but have c

At some point, there is an irreducible level of complexity. At this point, adding tools simply results in pushing complexity around like an air bubble trapped under a plastic film.

Are you a contributor? Is there a way to bring this up with the team? Perhaps a place to start would be to add support for storing OGC Simple Features and corresponding to/from conversion functions. I don’t have a lot of spare time, bu

Here’s hoping that DuckDB will add support for spatial data, indexing, and query predicates. It would be great if this were a first-class feature instead of bolted on like SpatiaLite is to SQLite.

Be thankful you weren't a child during the Reagan years. When I was around 8 years-old, every time I saw jet contrails I was convinced they were incoming USSR ICBMs.

I think we are past the point of being so picky that we think we can afford to ignore all non “perfect” solutions. We have to recognize that to engineer our way out of climate disaster we will have to employ solutions that create new proble

Seems like they could essentially reserve a block of capacity (provided by the nukes) as being outside of the market, no? If the nuke plant has a planned or unplanned outage of some or all capacity, that reserve capacity could temporarily b

Yeah, this seems really stupid. I can see an argument for prioritizing renewables for new capacity (and can also see the argument for not), buy if the nuclear plants are already built, why de-prioritize dispatching their power now?

Still don’t quite get the DOS nostalgia. Individual games were good, but the whole ecosystem was finicky and crash-prone by the early- to mid-90s, not to mention deeply ugly (ALL CAPS console, lousy inconsistent GUIs, unnaturally short file
