I feel this post. I can relate. I once said - and still maintain - that all devs need a life-long lesson in empathy. For our users and our library consumers and so on. It will be impossible to fix every conceivable issue and sometimes we wi

I’ll have to look into containers and tree style tabs. I have never knowingly used those.

My experience has been quite different in that I don’t even have Chrome installed on my Windows machine just yet, because FF has been working fine for me for a long time. I like to use uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger. I don’t use the cloud

I tried loading some of my old burned CD-Rs a few years back and had very little success too. They were maybe 10-12 years old at the time. It was kind of sad. I had a number of burned CDs flake out on me over the years.

I really don’t think that is the case. Here, I think, is an article about the work: https://phys.org/news/2021-12-octopus-crabs-lobsters-pain.am... And that has a link to a paper: https://www.lse.ac.uk/

i'll be honest, i didn't really enjoy this article. i feel like there are people who are idealists and perfectionists and people who actually execute on ideas. i am not saying one can not change. certainly in my life i have been i

I used to work with Ruby and Rails and I really found Ruby to be a very comfortable, terse, and expressive language, but I found it very slow after trying some compiled languages (I think I compared service startup and some simple computati

I think those points make sense. I do think there is some material within though, which is that the tweets had some point. Sure the reporting was not really interesting, but I thought the source material was, personally.

If a mod is reading this, can you please explain why this has been flagged? Thanks. Genuine question here, not trying to stir the pot.

Just because someone does something because they find satisfaction in it or they enjoy doing it does not make it right to exploit their work for huge personal gain and especially when none of that will ever go back to the people who did the

Definitely thought this was an interesting article. Recalled some of my own thoughts on “struggle” as a way to learn. And am somehow interested in the subject of pedagogy too. Also a software developer. Thanks for the article.

A couple of thoughts: 1. Since you say it is an open market with alternatives, I don’t see why you seem to take issue with the blog post author taking one of the alternatives. 2. I thought the author did have some issues with the product. L
