The low end android sets made by Micromax, Lava etc. are priced very affordably (Rs3000-5000/$50-80). And the market is still flooded with even cheaper feature phones. I don't see how the power of poor people is diminished.

I think most people do make that assumption subconsciously. Hard to blame them, the signal to noise ratio is awful so it's probably easier to not bother. Relatedly, my experience has been people demand cheap if you're from India e

Yup. There's a bunch of impact funds that do this kind of investment and measure themselves on metrics other than IRR. eg. Khosla Impact, Acumen, etc etc.

Some of the UI elements from Maemo/Meego live on in their low-end Asha series. You probably don't see them much in the US, but they're reasonably popular in India.

It's not a necessary or sufficient condition, but it's a good signal that you're at least above average if you're at a top 30 grad program. I'd say the majority (but not all) of those foreign students would at least escape the 'low-middling

Source? I'm questioning it simply because I remember from browsing US News stats during my grad school applications that pretty much every graduate department in STEM fields was 20-50% foreign students. I only looked at the top 20-30 school
