Best guess: Uber/Lyft can't demand exclusivity from their drivers without crossing a line clearly delineated by the IRS. Doing so would be considered an "inappropriate degree of control" and the drivers would no longer

I think it would have been a lot more interesting if they had requested startups that significantly reduced the average cost of living and/or moved us closer towards a world where not everyone has to have a job.

My family uses a service called Green Bean delivery. They deliver fruits, vegetables, and herbs. I don't think they deliver meats yet. We were a little worried that we wouldn't be selecting the fruits and vegetables ourselves b

The issue is obviously one of semantics but your concept of dependence is not the widely accepted concept. Dependence means completely reliant on - no substitutions would do. The thing you're dependent on is a requirement, not a pref

Yeah, the eBay drop centers aren't a very good deal. As you mentioned, you have to take your stuff to them, and then they might not accept it. Most won't take anything under $50 in value, or anything over a certain size. Then t

How much would you pay for this service? It's exactly one of the ideas I've been toying around with, but not one of the ones I'm currently working on.

They don't just charge 5 dollars. They also charge the cheapest retail shipping rate to the consumer. Meanwhile they pay a bulk discounted rate. They pocket the difference.

They also get a discount on shipping which they do not pass on to the consumer. As they scale that difference will become larger and larger. I think that's where they expect to get the bulk of their revenue.

Does 100 users represent a small or a large portion of the total addressable market? If it's small, just ship it. If it's a large portion of your addressable market, then choose 5-10 of them and give them early access. Either wa

Startups differ so much that there really aren't any features that are common to all startups other than those features that are common to all websites. But I like the idea. I would suggest starting with a fork of dj-skeletor ( https:&

Congrats on shipping! That's an awesome achievement. You'll probably run into the chicken/egg problem of launching an app that requires network effects. One way to solve that that I think would work good here is to provide
