I'd rather have adoption of high density urban areas, public transit and walkable/cycle-able neighborhoods. Traffic jammed highways will still be traffic jammed highways with EVs.

Wow, I work in a big, non-software-focused, multinational company, in a mechanical engineer role. Your post describes our exact review process. What more, it seems managers always set the expectation high, or vague, that way everyone alwa

I'm in Canada, greater Montreal area. 5 Mbps for a bit under 30$ is pretty much the best deal around. Honestly it gets the job done. I can watch Netflix in 720p. I get the article, and entirely agree that internet, even broadband is a

Open XML formats (.docx, etc) came with Office 2003. From what I remember, the EU wanted to standardize an open document format, and had their eye set on OO ODF, as the most mature of those at the time. Microsoft put out their OXML format,

I really had my hopes up for VisPy for this (GPU-accelerated 3D plotting). It was supposed to be the convergence of 3 or 4 previously existing OpenGL-based plotting libraries. However, 4 years after starting development, it's still in

The vast majority of advocacy groups do demand real lanes. The thing, I want to commute to work today. Do I just stay home and yell at politicians until a lane is built? Or do I legally use the existing roadways?

I'm no big fan of excel, but the modern xlsx format is "open", in that it's documented (though maybe not perfectly). It certainly is possible to read data from it using a variety of open source packages, from LO Calc to

Let's also not forget that the orignal Frauhofer encoder was not exactly impressive in it's results. Anyone remember downloading 128k CBR files off napster, the warbled mess that was? A lot of the advances came from the psycho-aco
