Yeah that's mostly on point. I have an MScA in mechanical engineering and my thesis was in robotics. I worked in industry (not robotics) for a few years but my current job is as an RA in academia. I play with the the cool stuff all day

Well, yes, but you need to accelerate first. Just like you don't accelerate a car from a stop light in fifth gear. I hang out on some cycling subreddits and they commonly get questions from new cyclists that are totally clueless about

Actually, they haven't? All Canon EF-S lenses (so aps-c only) are marketed solely by the actual focal length and not the FF equivalent. To the best of my knowledge, it's the same in other brands, even in micro 4/3.

There's definitely some talk in the community on improving dev tooling as a logical next step to improve adoption, eg: https://github.com/nim-lang/RFCs/issues/300

Numba can usually speed up non-vectorizable things by JIT compiling and potentially parallelizing. I mean, in an ideal world you'd use Julia or a Cython extension, but if you already have something in Python/numpy, numba only requ

I started you mining Litecoin back in something like 2014, when I was in grad school. My appartment had purely resistive baseboard heating, so might as well mine some coin whole heating during Canadian winters right? I stopped after making

The "kids" part seems a bit over the top. One can make a valid criticism without ad hominem. (Saying this as a fan of Nim and lean desktop apps in general, though also someone who really doesn't get web technologies.)

I used to live on Montreal and came across PornHub job postings a few times on indeed. Very open, claiming unique challenges due to being the largest porn site in the world, etc. They don't seem to have anything up atm, maybe they stop

I'd also recommend Sophie's World as a jumping off point into multiple "canon" works as referend by another poster. I'm sure people out there criticize it as not rigorous or full of inaccuracies, but I've found

The syntax makes it look like Python at a first glance. When you write it however, the type system makes it feel much more like Pascal.

Try mechanical/civil engineering in Canada. Most projects are metric, or at least, I prefer working in metric when I can. However, things like raw materials (ie sheet steel and similar) are only sold in us customary units, or worse, ga

I don't think there's any special sauce, at least nothing that justifies stupidly high audiophile pricing. ESS "sabre32" DAC ICs are widely regarded as excellent and even integrated into high end audio products, yet they

For a more modern take, Nim has a type system inspired by the Pascal/Oberon/modula family, adds macros and other powerful metaprogramming features, has simple syntax inspired by Python, and can compile to JavaScript (in addition t

Nim compiles to C, so you can use it as a "better C" like rust or Zig. That said, the main difference is that it comes with a GC, or more accurately, multiple GC options that are tunable. If you cannot have GC, as in embedded, you
