The "haves" in Australia are those associated with mining and construction (since mining demands a lot of infrastructure). The "have nots" are everyone else. If it's mining, you can put the environment in the "have not" column as well. Mi

Nicely said. I'll have to give you that. I used couch surfing a few years ago and distinctly remember thinking I should redo the site for them. I may have even written it on my profile.

I still shake my head with AirBnB, a total ripoff of couch surfing. For it to be comparable in any way, shape or form to the innovative and beautifully executed Dropbox boggles the mind.

That's why I immediately flag the email as spam when I see that - even if I know for a fact I signed up for the emailer. More people need to do this.

I just didn't know what I was signing up for, and the name doesn't tell me anything. But I like the name a lot. I just think you need a killer tagline or something.

Love the name. Clever. The website is a little more mysterious than I'd initially like, but I'll give it a try. I wish you success with this!

I'm bewildered by the hero worshipping of Elon myself. Heck, he may even be a complete fraud. It wouldn't surprise me if he is.

Oh my gosh no. Elon hasn't changed the world anywhere NEAR as much as Steve.

Be assured that Facebook's permissions will bug out time and time again. Just like when Facebook changes or adds a new feature - permissions get clawed back to being public. Why are people so forgetful about this? Maybe the answer is simila

Well, it must be working for the guys at Buffer because it's brilliant software. I use it for my clients and my own projects. Buffer is to social media as MailChimp is to email marketing. It's that good. Keep it up!

Oh frig. You should see CNN during election time. The obvious biases last election made my stomach turn.

There was another news reader on HN recently, but this one is much better on the iPhone (where I seem to be doing much of my reading lately). I'll be using this page from now on. Nice work.

Blekko is pretty awesome. I'll admit. I've found stuff on Blekko that I doubt I'd ever find on Google. To Everyone: Try it out. Blekko's results are a breath of fresh air.

I think Skrill Moneybookers http://www.moneybookers.com is as close as you'll get to PayPal. They accept pretty much all credit cards, banks etc.

I started using Skrill Moneybookers because it's used internationally. I can't use Amazon or Google Wallet because I'm in Canada and its taking them bloody well forever to get here. Oh, and I just signed up for Zoompass.

Epic thread. I haven't used Linux much since early 2000, but all the giants of Linux I remember from my Linux hacking days are there. Interesting read!

I call it the 'red Honda effect'. If you are waiting for a ride, and the driver of the car has a red Honda, you start to notice a lot of red Hondas.

Lots of findings coming out lately about animals having empathy and demonstrating qualities us humans think we're unique for. And it makes me sad. We're not considerate towards animals. We hardly give them a second thought. We eat them, cag

I'd be more impressed with a car-less society. More cars, different cars, smarter cars aren't the answer. It just leads to more roads, more urban sprawl, more pollution on the planet.

I've been using Mint the past few weeks and it's been solid. I'll stick with it for the time being (but the new SusE sounds awesome and I've always preferred RPM over DEB).
