I've been wanting to write something similar for a long time. I left high school feeling very "bad at math", and now I'm a CS major with a math minor. I think the biggest problem in my approach to learning was my refusal

This seems to be a more and more prevalent model for funding non-AAA games. A good proportion of the games on the front page of Steam right now are "Early Access", which work in a similar manner - funding upfront, continual develo

I definitely agree with a model that places emphasis on past work/projects. "To find out if they can get stuff done, I just ask what they’ve done. If someone can actually get stuff done they should have done so by now. It’s hard t

Totally agree - a while a go I posted a tutorial on HN about how to create Apple's "Your First iOS App" without using storyboards or IB. It started a pretty good discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?i

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through some of the old applications. Here's Drew Houston's app for Dropbox back in 2007 - everything is plain and concise. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27532820/app.ht

As a younger developer, I struggle to imagine our senior developers - who have been doing complicated things for 5-10+ years - ever stoop to a number to quantify their experience. I suppose that senior developers are probably not the target
